DTGD15dinib- Seashore Hello

Hi Stampers!!

Even though the official 2015 Dare to Get Dirty Challenge is now over, I wanted to share another card that I created as a sample maker for my good friend, Dina’s  DTGD15dinib Challenge (FYI- you can still create cards throughout the year and link to the challenges although the official challenge is over and you would not be eligible for the drawing for the vendor prizes) :-)

As I mentioned in my previous posts, Dare to Get Dirty is an annual event that allows the Splitcoaststampers’ Fan Club members to participate in several challenges hosted by the Dirty Dozen Girls (current and alumni, like me) in creating cards but also the possibility to receive prizes from the member companies (if interested in more details, please see the beginning of this post).

Again, one major rule of participation in the Dare To Get Dirty Challenges is that the actual challenge details are secret to all except the Fan Club Members…I can share the card but not the details on the actual challenge (unfortunately, any details on this card will reveal the challenge details, so if you have any questions, please let me know in the comment area).

It is hard to see in the photo, but this card has a modified Gate Fold and I have decorated the inside as well :-)

Stamp Sets: Banner Blast, Lighthouse with Decoy (Impression Obsession)
Paper:  Whisper White, Early Espresso, Soft Sky, retired This and That Epic Day DSP

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, Stampin' Write Markers- Smoky Slate, Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar, Basic Black

Accessories: Big Shot™, Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, AquaPainter™, Banner Punch, Natural Twine, Sponge Dauber

Thanks again for visiting! I still have one final DTGD15 Hostess Sample card to share (hopefully within the next few days)....Have a great weekend, my friends!

The Earth Laughs in Flowers- Seasonal Shelves with Two Challenges :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to create a card using the CQC291 ColourQ Challenge along with the Freshly Made Sketches FMS186 Sketch Challenge.

When I saw the cute chicken in the inspiration photo from the ColourQ, I thought of a neglected retired set, Seasonal Shelves and decided to give it some  "love"  :-)

Again, I hope you will take the time to visit the above sites- both sites have fabulous Design Team creations as well as the wonderful galleries!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of retired Poppy Parade cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Cut a piece of retired Gumball Green Designer Series Paper (DSP) on a diagonal, adhere to the card front and add a scrap piece of Poppy Parade cardstock to cover the seam of the DSP.

Ink the retired stamp from Seasonal Shelves using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Color the image using Stampin’ Write Markers- Hello Honey, retired Bordering Blue, Gumball Green and Poppy Parade and the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write marker to add shadows.

Fussy cut the image and use a foam brush to apply Mod Podge® to the entire image.

Allow the Mod Podge® to dry and mount the focal image onto a piece of Moonlight DSP, trim and mount onto a piece of retired Poppy Parade cardstock.

Ink the sentiment banner with the Poppy Parade Stampin’ Write marker and punch the image out with the Banner Punch.  Punch another banner from the Moonlight DSP and adhere behind the focal image.

Add the focal image to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Use the Bow Builder Punch to create the paper bow from retired Poppy Parade cardstock and add the Hello Honey button with Natural Linen Thread to the center.

Mount the bow onto card front to finish off the card.

Traveler- Three Challenges in One!

Hi Again Stampers!

I hope all of you are having a great weekend so far!  I rearranged my stamping area this week and did not have a chance to stamp until last night, so I wanted to share one more card that I was able to complete for a few of my favorite challenges- the SR271 Sketch Challenge using the FM201 FridayMashup! Color Challenge and the Splitcoaststampers F4A260 Double, Triple Challenge (three inks, three elements- see the details here and the gallery here).

Again, I hope you have the time to stop by the above sites to check out the terrific inspiration from the Design Teams as well as the other entries!

To create this card:

Ink the ship stamp from Traveler using the Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the MFT Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the image.
Color the image using an AquaPainter™ with Pacific Point Classic Ink for the ship’s hull and the ocean.

Create a mask using the 1 3/8” Circle Punch and sponge Pacific Point along with Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink over the sky area (using the AquaPainter™ to blend over the moon, etc.).  Add color using the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write marker for the smoke, the Rich Razzleberry as well as Pacific Point markers to add additional detail to the ship and Basic Black to add waves and a few birds to the sky.

Sponge a bit of Pacific Point Classic Ink over the edges and mount onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  Add the bitty flag with a scrap of DSP (I did not line up the stamped image low enough on the die- oops!) :-)

Create the banners with the retired Banner Blast set using Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink and punch out with the Banner Punch.

Add the banners to the back of the focal image along with another one from Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

Use the Big Shot to emboss a piece of retired High Tide Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and mount onto a piece of Pacific Point cardstock.  Trim and mount the panel onto the Rich Razzleberry card base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Circle Collection Framelits™ to cut a portion of a large circle from the retired High Tide DSP as well as Pacific Point cardstock.

Mount the circles onto the card front and add a vertical strip of the High Tide DSP (Smoky Slate with anchors adhered to Pacific Point cardstock).

Add the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and adhere the three retired Circle Brads to finish off the card (FYI- I removed the brad points and used Hot Glue to mount the brads).

Stamp Sets:  Traveler, Banner Blast

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry; Stampin’ Write Markers- Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry, Smoky Slate, Basic Black

Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry; retired High Tide DSP
Accessories: Big Shot™, Circle Collection Framelits™, MFT Stitched Rectangular Dies, Banner Punch, retired Circle Brads, Sponge Dauber, AquaPainter™

Thanks again for visiting- now off to do some housework and get some rest :-)  Have a great day, my friends!

Nautical "Hi"- A Color and Sketch Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!

I had a chance to create another quick card for the PalsPaper Arts PPA236 Sketch Challenge (I flipped the sketch on its side) along with the Colour Me! CMCC54 Challenge.

The colors reminded me of a Nautical Theme so I decided to pull out one of my favorite current sets, Traveler and create a slightly masculine card :-)

Again, if you not have already visited either site yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- wonderful ideas from all!

To create this Clean and Layered (CAL) card:

Use the Big Shot™ along with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions™  Embossing Folder to emboss the Pacific Point striped piece of retired High Tide Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Pacific Point cardstock, trim once more and mount onto the Real Red card base.

Add the vertical panels created from Maritime DSP mounted onto Pacific Point and Real Red cardstock strips.  Add the center strip of Pacific Point cardstock.

Stamp the ship image using Pacific Point Class Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, color using an AquaPainter™ with Pacific Point Classic Ink and add more detail with the Stampin’ Write Pacific Point and Real Red markers.

Trim the focal image panel and mount onto Pacific Point cardstock, trim again and mount onto Real Red cardstock.  Add the Real Red Photo Corners (created from the retired Photo Corner Punch trimming the corners to scale) and the retired Silver Brads to the corners.

Stamp the banners using Real Red Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out using the Banner Punch.  Add the banners to the back of the focal image panel.

Adhere the focal image panel to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish the card.

Stamp Sets: World Traveler, Banner Blast

Ink: Pacific Point, Real Red Classic Ink;  Stampin’ Write markers- Pacific Point, Real Red

Paper: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Real Red, Maritime DSP, retired High Tide DSP

CC491 Friendship's Journey

Hi Stampers!

Here is the second card that I created using this week’s CC491 “Blackberry Saffron Bay”colors at Splitcoaststampers along with the SC500 Sketch Challenge (to use one of the sketches from SC400-SC499- I chose SC435 and flipped the sketch upright) :-)

This card also has the has “dessert” to add a sentiment – you have to look close (below the rolled flowers) to see the “love” banner  :-)

If you have not had a chance to do, I hope that you will take a moment to visit the gallery for inspiration, create your own card with this week’s colors and join in on the fun!

To create this card:

Ink the focal using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Color the images using an AquaPainter™ with Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss and So Saffron Classic Ink and add additional details with the corresponding Stampin’ Write markers.

Use the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write marker to add shadows, trim and mount onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock.

Ink the retired background stamp, En Francais using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of retired I Am Me Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss the stamped DSP panel.  Lightly sand with the Sanding Block, trim and mount onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock, trim and mount onto the Bermuda Bay card base.

Trim a piece of Park Lane DSP to create two squares and mount onto pieces of Bermuda Bay cardstock and add to the background panel (per the sketch).

Mount the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Create the rolled roses from Blackberry Bliss cardstock using the 2 3/8” and 1 ¾” Scallop Circle Punch – cut a wavy line from the outside of the scallop toward the center.   Use the retired Crimper Tool to crimp the roses and roll up toward the center.  Use a Hot Glue Gun to adhere the outside edges to the center part of the scallop- here is a basic tutorial from Splitcoaststampers.

Stamp the banner from the retired Banner Blast stamp set using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink, punch out with the Banner Punch , mount onto a banner punched from Bermuda Bay cardstock and add to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Punch the leaves from Bermuda Bay cardstock using the Bird Builder Punch.  Using the Hot Glue Gun, add the leaves with the rolled roses to the front of the card.

Stamp Sets: Friendship’s Journey, Banner Blast (both retired)

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black, Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake, So Saffron; Stampin’ Write Markers- Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake, So Saffron

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, So Saffron, Park Lane DSP,  I Am Me DSP (retired)

Accessories: Big Shot™, retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, AquaPainter™, Sponge Dauber, Punches- 2 3/8” and 1 ¾” Scallop Circle, Banner; Pearls

Having Fun with the Packing Tape Technique :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I had a great time yesterday playing around with my Gelli Arts® Gel Printing Plate and was able to try the Packing Tape Technique for the first time (there is a great tutorial on their blog).   This technique involves allowing your acrylic paints to do between layers and then lifting off the plate using packing tape.

Since the packing tape is approx. 2” wide, I had three strips from one printing and was able to incorporate into three cards (plus a few scraps that I will use to make a fourth card at a later date).

One thing that I love about the monoprinting is using “found” objects in a different way along with traditional rubber stamps- so much fun searching the house for objects to use :-)

Since the cards will link to different challenges, I will be posting each in a separate post but all use the same technique for the packing tape :-)  This first card uses the Splitcoaststampers SC493 Sketch and the Mix-Ability MIX73 "Round and Round" Challenge (although the circles were created a bit different than the technique Lydia highlighted)- hope this is OK with Lydia but I just had to use my Gelli Arts® Gel Printing Plate since it is so addicting  :-)

Again, I hope you will take the time to check out the Splitcoaststampers’ sites to see the fantastic samples of the Design Teams and other entrants.

************************************************************************
The basic steps to create the tape transfer layers:

Create a few masks with wax paper and apply to the Gelli Arts® Gel Printing Plate.  Put a few drops of acrylic paint onto the plate and use a brayer to spread out on the plate- I used some very old acrylics I had on hand and used a few drops of metallic Titanium Teal, a Light Village Green and a metallic Green Patina.

Once the paint was spread on the plate, I carefully removed the wax paper and allowed the paint to dry before the next step.

Put put a few drops of Soft Black acrylic paint onto a foam plate and spread with a paintbrush- I used an old protein shake strainer and dipped into the paint and “stamped” onto the plate in a few areas (remember that the design on the plate is what you will receive as the final design on your project).

Add a few drops of Soft White to the black acrylic and use the end of a cardboard tube (mine was from the wax paper container since I used my last sheet of wax paper- lol)   Dip into the paint and press lightly onto the plate in various areas.

Add a drop of metallic Crown Red Velvet acrylic paint onto another area of the foam plate and dip the end of the paintbrush to apply a few dots around the design.

Use the paintbrush to paint onto the Gorgeous Grunge stamp and apply to the plate in a few places (re-applying paint to the stamp each time).

Allow this layer to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.

Once the paint is completely dry, apply the strips of packing tape and burnish onto the plate using a Bone Folder.  Carefully peel each layer of tape off the plate, picking up the paint (great way to clean your plate)- I need help cleaning whenever I can get it- lol!!

Lay the pieces of tape onto a scrap piece of paper with the sticky side up.  Using a dry paint brush, apply a small bit of Pearl-Ex™ and dust off the excess  (I have all of the colors that Stampin’ Up! used to sell years ago and have never used them- this monoprinting is helping me use so much of my “stash”)   I used a gold on one, a gold with a bit of bronze on the other and finally silver on the last strip.
************************************************************************

To create this card:

Apply the tape strip to a piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut a circle using the Big Shot™ with the Circle Collection Framelits™ (the circle framelit™ is larger than the tape) and punch out another circle using the 2” Circle Punch from Whisper White cardstock.

Add a strip of Basic Black cardstock to the straight edge of the packing tape circle, round the edges to mirror the edges of the framelit™ and add the banners (the Gold Foil was previously embossed using the Decorative Dot Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder).

Adhere onto the 2” punched circle of Whisper White and mount this entire circle panel onto a 2 ½” Circle from Basic Black cardstock (also cutting the 2 ½” Circle in half and spreading apart to allow just a bit of the Basic Black to show).

Use the Big Shot™ with the Large Dot Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhere this panel to the Whisper White card base.

Trim a piece of Perfect Plum Designer Series Paper (DSP) and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.   Add the vertical panels of the packing tape transfer layers (mounted onto Basic Black cardstock) and adhere a split circle of Whisper White and Basic Black to the top and bottom of the strip (the circles are from two 2 ½” punched pieces- cut in half).

Mount the layered packing tape circle panel onto the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Using Gold Encore™ Ink, stamp the butterflies from Papillon Potpourri onto Basic Black cardstock and punch out using the Elegant Butterfly Punch.  Adhere to another butterfly (also punched with the Elegant Butterfly Punch from Basic Black cardstock) and mount the butterflies to the card front.

Add the Pearls to the butterfly centers and top corner of the Perfect Plum panel to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Papillon Potpourri, Gorgeous Grunge, Banner Blast

Ink: Encore™ Gold Pigment Ink, Acrylic Paints- Metallic Titanium Teal, Light Village Green, Metallic Green Patina, Soft Black, Soft White, metallic Crown Red Velvet

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Perfect Plum DSP (retired Hostess Pack)

Accessories: Big Shot™, Circle Collection Framelits™, Decorative Dots and Large Dots Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Gelli Arts® Gel Printing Plate, Brayer, Punches- Banner, 2” and 2 ½” Circle, Elegant Butterfly; Pearls, Pearl-Ex™ powders- Gold, Silver and Bronze

Thanks again for stopping by- I will share the other two cards created from the additional packing tape strips shortly.  I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend- I am planning on playing some more in the craft room!

JUN14VSNK A Vacation into the Past :-)

Hi Again Stampers!

Again, I hope you have had a chance to visit the challenge sites- so many different interpretations of the challenges!!

To create this Clean and Layered (CAL) card:

Stamp the images from Feeling Sentimental (retired SAB set) using Memento™ Tuxedo Black onto Whisper White cardstock.

Trim around the Classic London Phone Booth and mount onto Basic Black cardstock.  Punch out the Penny-Farthing (bicycle) image using the 2 ½”Circle Punch and mount onto another circle of Basic Black cardstock (punched using the 2 ½” Circle Punch and split into two to create the frame).

Punch out the sentiment using the XL Oval Punch and mount onto an XL Oval punched from Basic Black cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Chevron Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock.

Adhere a strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP)- Strawberry Slush pattern from the retired Quatrefancy DSP onto Basic Black cardstock and add to the embossed panel.
Mount the panel onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock, trim and mount onto Basic Black cardstock, trim and adhere to the Bermuda Bay card base.

Create the little banners using the Banner Punch, Banner Blast stamp set and retired Crushed Curry DSP.  Adhere to a piece of retired Black Hemp Twine (I used a Hot Glue Gun to adhere to the twine).

Use the Color Spritzer Tool with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to add a bit of distressing.

Add the elements to the card per the sketch (using Stampin’ Dimensionals® for the Penny-Farthing image) and adhere the banner to finish off the card.

Part of this challenge was to  “create a card to reflect the craziest, most amazing summer vacation you have never had... yet”!

So here goes:
In the summer of 2013, my husband and I embarked on the vacation of our lifetime!  We found a Penny-Farthing (bicycle) that appeared out of nowhere and originally seemed to be able to seat only one person, but lo and behold, both of us fit perfect (this in itself was a miracle- lol!)    Once we started to pedal, all of a sudden, we saw all types of scenes flash before our eyes and realized that we were on a time machine!!

If we stopped pedaling, we were able to witness our surroundings- the best part of the journey was that no one could see us and we were not able to interact, just view :-)

Once we realized what was happening, we decided to check out all kinds of sites from different years  (we could only go back into the past- no future events-oh well,  so much for winning the lottery- lol!!)

We had a great time visiting and experiencing all sorts of times and places in the past- the Civil War , the Revolutionary War, viewed life in Europe throughout the centuries and you name it, we saw it!

At first we were concerned on how to get back to our time, but the Penny-Farthing showed us the way!  If we mentioned the word, “home”, the Penny-Farthing would immediately take us to the “Classic Phone Booth” and “poof!”  we were back to our time and place at home!

We plan on storing the Penny-Farthing in a very secure place so we can "vacation" at any time!  Shhh…remember- don't tell anyone- it is a secret- lol!!

Clean and Layered- Banners for Three Challenges :-)

Hi Again Stampers!!

I was able to create another card this weekend and decided to go Clean and Layered (CAL) this time (a very difficult style for me :-)).

When looking for inspiration for this card, I used The Card Concept Challenge #5 Colors along with the Fusion #6 Inspiration and the FMS127 Sketch at FreshlyMade Sketches—again, I hope you will have a chance to stop by to visit all of the challenge sites to see the wonderful Design Team samples and entries!

To create this card:

Using Gumball Green Classic Ink, stamp the “Hi” and Polka Dot stamps from Banner Blast onto Whisper White cardstock and use the Banner Punch to cut out the banners.

Repeatedly stamp the circle stamp from Lacy and Lovely using Gumball Green Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, cut two small banners with the Banner Punch and create the longer banner using the 1 ¼” Square Punch.

Layer the long banner onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, creating the banner points using the 1 ¼” Square Punch as well and add a few scrap pieces of Gumball Green cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.

Layer a piece of Whisper White cardstock onto Gumball Green cardstock and again onto the Early Espresso card base.  Add the Woodgrain embossed panel and the large banner per the sketch.

Punch a banner using the Banner Punch from Early Espresso Designer Series Paper (DSP) and using a Hot Glue Gun, adhere the banners to a piece of retired Hemp Twine (knotted on the ends), adhere to the front of the card.

Add the button from the retired Neutrals Collection to the upper corner of the banner per the sketch (I used a small strip of Gumball Green cardstock to the center to mimic thread) and the Rhinestone to dot the “i” on “hi” to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Banner Blast, Lacy and Lovely

Ink: Gumball Green

Paper: Whisper White, Gumball Green, Early Espresso, Early Espresso DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Punches- Banner Punch, 1 ¼” Square, Rhinestone, retired Hemp Twine, retired Neutrals Collection button

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope all of you have a great week!
