TCC126 Time to Celebrate

Hi Friends!

I absolutely love this gorgeous inspiration photo- all of the black, gold, glitter and pearls!  The entire photo inspired me to create a Mixed Media Classy & Elegant easel card for our Anniversary this month- I know, but men can like ribbon and pearls :-).

I pulled out some of my retired papers and stamps along with a sentiment from a current stamp set, God Verses 2 from Divinity Designs, LLC (formerly Our Daily Bread Designs).

The clock image was from the retired Stampin’ Up! Sense of Time stamp set and the paper was from the retired SU! Mocha Morning Designer Series.  I still have quite a bit of this paper left in my stash and love the detail of the flocked pages as well as the elegant golds and browns.

The clock image was initially heat embossed with pewter embossing powder onto white cardstock and once cooled, Nuvo Indian Gold Embellishment Mousse along with distress ink were added to give shine and dimension.

The same technique was used for the sentiment (but with gold embossing powder versus pewter).

The retired Script background stamp was used with distress ink to add additional interest to the background of the clock.

*As I mentioned, this card will be my Anniversary card for my hubby and will be hand-delivered to him versus mailed (but it will be “sent”).

Stamp Sets:  Sense of Time, Script background (both retired Stampin’ Up!), God Verses 2 (Divinity Designs LLC)

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™,  Tim Holtz™ Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink, Nuvo™ Indian Gold Embellishment Mousse

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Mocha Morning Specialty DSP (all Stampin’ Up!)

Tools/Accessories: Big Shot™, Tim Holtz™ Sizzix™ Alterations Clock EF, Embossing Buddy®, Pewter and Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Pearls, 1" Black Satin Ribbon, Gold Trim. MFT Dies- Stitched Circle STAX, Stitched A2 Rectangle Set 1; Sizzix™ Circle Dies

Thanks again for taking the time to visit!  I hope I have inspired you to create your own card based on our {Time to Celebrate}  photo and link up to our gallery at The Card Concept- we would love to see your interpretation!! The challenge is open until Monday, January 20th at noon EST.

HYCCT1513 Hope For Tomorrow

Hi Again Friends!!

I decided to create a card this evening for the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To  HYCCT1513 Misti’s  “Show Me Your Scars” Challenge (distress/tear one edge or  side –I did a few sides since some survivors have many scars).

I also incorporated the Mojo419 Sketch Challenge (modified a bit)  along with the Crafts4EternityR247 “Tick Tock” Challenge and Splitcoaststampers’ TLC555 “Watercolor Powders” Challenge (see details with a great tutorial video from Dina here and gallery here).

Again, I hope you will have a chance to visit the above galleries and possibly take some time to create a card and join in on the fun!!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of watercolor paper with the Embossing Buddy®, ink the sentiment and clock image from the retired Stampin’ Up! Sense of Time stamp set using Versamark™ and stamp onto the piece of prepared  watercolor paper.

Apply Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.
Spritz the paper with water and sprinkle the Brusho® Crystal Colours into the wet area, spritzing again and allowing the colors to merge.   FYI- I started with Yellow, Brilliant Red, dried with the Heat Tool and blotted with a paper towel, added more water, dropped Turquoise and Purple and repeated the above steps until I was satisfied with the background.

Fussy-cut around the clock and trim the sentiment panel, distress the edges of the sentiment panel and use the Crimper Tool to add more texture on the top and bottom of the panel.

Tear a scrap piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock (this one was previously embossed with the retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder) and crimp with the Crimper Tool.

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Pretty Print Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock, trim and mount onto the Bermuda Bay card base.

Add the torn/crimped Elegant Eggplant layer along with the sentiment directly to the card front and mount the clock using Stampin ‘ Dimensionals®.

Add the Pearls to the center of the clock hands as well as the corners of the sentiment panel to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Sense of Time (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink: Versamark™, Brushos® Colour Crystals- Yellow, Brilliant Red, Turquoise, Purple

Paper: Watercolor, Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Elegant Eggplant

Accessories: Big Shot™, retired Final Press and Pretty Print Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder, Crimper Tool, Heat Tool, Water Spritzer Bottle, Pearls

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope you have a fabulous week, my friends!

TCC35 Mixed Media Vintage Style- Sense of Time :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I was inspired by the woodgrain, and of course, had to add a few rolled flowers in those soft, beautiful colors for my vintage style Mixed Media card.

I combined our Card Concept #35 challenge with the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #12 "MayFlowers" along with the Splitcoaststampers’  Way To Use It WT529 “It's About Time” Challenge (see details here and gallery here) and the Mix-Ability MIX119 "Texture" Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a number of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media.

So I hope you have time to vist all of the above challenge sites, gather your supplies together and come join in on the fun!!

To create this card:

Ink the Hardwood background stamp using Versamark™ ink and stamp onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.

Use a dry paintbrush to apply Silver Pearl-Ex® Powder and apply a layer of Mod Podge® to seal the cardstock (I have had the Pearl-Ex® for years and never used it- so much fun!!) :-)

Cut the panel into strips, adhere the strips to a piece of Basic Black cardstock and distress the edges using the Distressing Tool.

De-static a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with the Embossing Buddy®, stamp the clock image from the retired set, Sense of Time using Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Early Espresso Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Ink the retired floral image from Elements of Style with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, stamp over the clock face and color with Stampin’ Write Markers- Soft Sky, Blushing Bride, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz.

Apply a bit of distressing with the Color Spritzer Tool and the Basic Gray Stampin’ Write marker and use a Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen marker to add a few highlights to the flower centers.

Apply Crumb Cake Classic Ink with a Sponge Dauber to the edges and center of the inage to “antique” the paper, carefully “fussy-cut” the image out, mount a circle of Basic Black cardstock behind the image and apply a layer of Mod Podge® to seal the surface.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Layered Lacy Square Die to cut out a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment from Sense of Time with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto die cut piece, ink the floral image from Elements of Style with Sahara Sand Classic Ink and stamp over the sentiment.

Punch the sentiment out with the 2” Circle Punch and mount onto another circle of Basic Black cardstock (also punched with the 2” Circle Punch).

Cut the remaining part of the die cut apart and adhere behind the layered sentiment circle, sponge Crumb Cake Classic Ink to “antique” the paper and use the Color Spritzer Tool and the Basic Gray Stampin’ Write marker to add additional distressing.

Apply a layer of Mod Podge® over the entire sentiment layer and set aside to dry.

Layer the crocheted lace over the background on a diagonal, add the 1” Bllack Satin Ribbon strip to cover the edge of the lace and mount the background panel to the Smoky Slate card base.

Mount the clock face and the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Use the Big Shot™ with the My Favorite Things™ (MFT) Royal Rose and Mini Royal Rose Dies to create the rolled roses from Very Vanilla and Blushing Bride cardstock.

Use the Martha Stewart Leaf Punch with Wild Wasabi cardstock to create the leaves and mount the roses with the leaves to the card front.

Add the Pearls to the sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Sense of Time, Elements of Style, Hardwood

Ink: Stāz-On Jet Black, Versamark™, Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand Classic Ink; Stampin’ Write Markers- Basic Gray, Blushing Bride, Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz; Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen marker

Thinking of You on Father's Day- A Sketch Using Retired Sets :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I have been busy organizing my craft room and decided to create an additional Father's Day card to have on hand using some of my neglected retired items along with Leanne’s PP147 sketch at The Paper Players.

Again, if you have a chance, stop by The Paper Players site for terrific inspiration from their Design Team as well as the other entries- great job by all!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using the Embossing Buddy® and ink the clock and gear images from Sense of Time using Versamark™ ink.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Winter White Espresso Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool to melt the powder.

Once cooled using Sponge Daubers, apply Classic Ink- first Crumb Cake, followed by the new 2013-2015 In Color Baked Brown Sugar, the new Smoky Slate, Soft Suede and finally Early Espresso.  Ink the retired Wonderfully Worn background stamp using Basic Gray Classic Ink to add a bit of distressing along with a bit more Winter White embossing powder and a White Gel Pen.

Carefully cut out the clock image and also trim the gear image panel.  Cut into panels for the sketch and mount onto Very Vanilla and/or embossed panels of Baked Brown Sugar per the  PP147 sketch

Add the 3/8” Early Espresso Quilted Ribbon along with the sentiment from the retired set, Thinking of Father (the sentiment was stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock using Early Espresso Classic Ink and the edges were punched with the New Artisan Punch).

Stamp Sets:  Sense of Time, Thinking of Father, Wonderfully Worn (all retired)

Ink: Versamark™, Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Early Espresso, Soft Suede

Paper: Early Espresso,  Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar

AccessoriesEmbossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Winter White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Big Shot™, Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Artisan Punch, 3/8” Early Espresso Quilted Satin Ribbon, Sponge Daubers, White Gel Pen, Game Spinners

Farewell to Three Favorites!

Hi Stampers!

I love this week’s CCMC155 sketch challenge at Create with Connie and Mary! Connie and Mary and their Design Team has done a fabulous job (as always) and if you have time, you will be truly inspired!

I decided to use the colors from the CC327 Splitcoast Stampers Challenge- Vanilla, Chocolate, Olives and incorporate three of the soon to be retired sets into one card-  Sense of Time, Simple Friendship and Bella Toile (reminder- the last day to order these sets will be June 30th).
This was a fun card to make- I hope you like it! :-)

To create this card:

Stamp the Bella Toile background stamp with Chocolate Chip ink onto Very Vanilla and Old Olive.  Tear the Very Vanilla layer and distress the edges of both piece and sponge with Chocolate Chip ink.

Stamp the clock image in Chocolate Chip onto Very Vanilla.  Cut out the clock image and re-moisten the ink on Bella Toile ("huff" on the surface) and place the clock image onto the background stamp.  Distress the edges of the clock with the Distressing Tool and sponge with Chocolate Chip ink.

Stamp the sentiment with Chocolate Chip ink onto Very Vanilla and punch out with the Modern Label Punch (press the sentiment into the re-moistened background stamp as described above).  Sponge Chocolate Chip ink over the edges to “antique” the image and tone down the Very Vanilla.

Angle showing the clear embossed areas
Lay the clock image and the sentiment face down into the Versamark ink pad to cover the entire piece with ink.  Apply Clear Embossing powder to both pieces and use the Heat Gun to melt the powder.

Layer a piece of Chocolate Chip (punched from the Modern Label Punch) behind the sentiment and add a pearl on the exposed end.

Use the Decorative Label XL Punch to punch out two Chocolate Chip pieces  and emboss with the Square Lattice EF (these were punched from my scrap stash and were already embossed).  The layer with the Pinking Hearts border was also from my scraps- already punched, embossed with the texture plate and sprayed with Shimmer Paint (again, love my scraps! :-)).

Assemble the background layers and spray with Frost White Shimmer Paint (mixed with 70% alcohol).  Attach the clock image and sentiment after spraying the background  (I have found that the Shimmer Paint does not dry very well over the powder embossing).
Create the bow with Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon (retired) and an Antique Brad to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets: Bella Toile, Sense of Time, Simple Friendship
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Very Vanilla
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Versamark
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Clear EP, Heat Gun,  Punches- Pinking Hearts Border, Decorative Label XL, Modern Label, Pearls, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Sponge Dauber, Antique Brad, 1” Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon (retired)

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog!  You are all such an encouragement to me and even though we have not met in person, I feel that you are "true friends"!  Have fun stamping and God Bless!

PP44 The Open Sea

Hi Stampers!

I want to thank all of you who take the time to visit me each day- you are all such an encouragement to me!
This week has been extremely hectic and somewhat stressful- we have had quite a few tornado warnings and my DSL internet connection does not work well during rain or electrical storms so it has been difficult to post anything this week.  Fortunately, we did not have any tornadoes touchdown in my neighborhood, but my thoughts and prayers are with all of those who did suffer from the devastation this past week.

I wanted to “play” with Lesley’s Sketch Challenge PP44 at The Paper Players- (see http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com  for more details)- love this sketch Lesley!  I decided that this sketch is perfect for a couple of the new items from the SU! Summer Mini so I decided to create a hybrid card.   Check out the Paper Player's website to see all of the other examples- I was not the only one who decided to play with their new "toys":-)
To create this card:
De-static the Whisper White cardstock using the Embossing Buddy and stamp the clock image from Sense of Time with Versamark ink.  Heat emboss with White Embossing Powder.  Stamp the globe image from The Open Sea in Not Quite Navy (NQN) Classic Ink and repeatedly stamp the remaining images in the set in NQN as well.  Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Soft Suede to antique the entire image – gently wipe off the ink from the embossed images.
Carefully cut the clock image out and tear the edges around the remaining cardstock.  Heavily sponge more Soft Suede ink to give it the appearance of burnt paper.  Cut a strip from the new Designer Series Paper- Nautical Expedition (love this paper) and distress using Soft Suede ink and scrunching the paper by hand.  Use the Spiral Border Punch on the edge and add additional distressing with Soft Suede.
Print the ship image from My Digital Studio (I chose NQN as the color, reduced the size and “mirrored” the image.  Print onto Whisper White cardstock, punch out using the Decorative Label XL Punch and distress with Soft Suede.
The finishing touches include an embossed panel of NQN using the Finial Press EF, Vintage Trinkets with the Modern Label Punch for the sentiment and an Antique Brad with the new Baker’s Twine to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets:  Sense of Time, The Open Sea (stamp and digital stamp brush set)
Ink:  Not Quite Navy, Soft Suede
Cardstock:  Cherry Cobbler, NQN, Whisper White, Nautical Expedition DSP
Accessories:  Big Shot, Finial Press EF, Embossing Buddy, Heat Gun, White EP, Decorative Label XL Punch, Modern Label Punch, Spiral Border Punch, Sponge Daubers, Antique Brad, Vintage Trinkets, Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine
Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend- God Bless!

Vintage With Sympathy

Hi Stampers!
I created this card using this week’s ColourQ Challenge #CQC71(www.colourq.blogspot.com) along with the Pals Paper Vintage Theme Challenge  PPA80 (http://www.palspaperarts.com/).
I love anything vintage and the colors from this week's ColourQ Challenge were perfect for a soft vintage look.

   To make this card:
De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Embossing Buddy and stamp the clock image from Sense of Time with Versamark ink and heat emboss with White Embossing powder.

Use Sponge Daubers with Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride and Pretty in Pink Classic Ink to fill in the clock face.  "Antique" with Crumb Cake ink.   Stamp the butterfly and bee image from Flores Suaves in Crumb Cake ink along with the bird cage from the new set, Nature Walk from the 2011 Occasions Mini.   Spray with Frost White Shimmer Paint and adhere a pearl in the center.

On a piece of Blushing Bride using Crumb Cake Classic Ink, stamp the butterfly, bee and birdcage in a random pattern.  Use the Big Shot and emboss with the Vintage Wallpaper EF - sponge with Crumb Cake ink.

Using the Big Shot, emboss a piece of Whisper White with the Finial Press EF and a piece of Crumb Cake with the Square Lattice EF.  Punch the Whisper White piece with the Eyelet Border Punch and sponge with Crumb Cake ink.   Layer onto Blushing  Bride and attach the Kraft taffeta ribbon.

Stamp the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink onto Whisper White, lightly sponge with Crumb Cake and punch out using the Modern Label Punch.  Add the pearl to finish the card.

Thanks again for stopping by- enjoy your weekend and God Bless!

SSC184 Possibilities

Happy New Year to all of my stamping friends!  I hope all of you had a safe and wonderful time celebrating another new year!

I have been busy at work this week with end of year procedures in accounting and have not had a chance to stamp as much as I would like, but I wanted to create a card using the fantastic sketch #SSC184 from Stamping 411 with the Operators (http://www.stamping411.blogspot.com/ ).   Isn’t this a cool sketch?  If you have a moment and have not had a chance to visit them yet, please check out all of their Design Team’s cards along with the other entries- such wonderful ideas and inspiration!

To create this card:

Using the Big Shot and the Vintage Wallpaper EF, emboss a piece of Newsprint DSP and lightly sand with the Sanding Block to reveal the white core.  Sponge the raised edges of the sanded DSP with Early Espresso ink and spray the entire piece with Frost White Shimmer Paint (mixed with 70% alcohol).

De-static a piece of Very Vanilla with the Embossing Buddy and using Versamark ink stamp the clock image from Sense of Time.  Heat emboss with Basic Black EP and use Sponge Daubers along with Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso ink.  Apply the ink randomly to the clock face to “antique” the stamped image.

Sponge Early Espresso over the center part of the Medallion background stamp and stamp in the center the clock face.  Remoisten the center stamped portion of the Medallion stamp by “huffing” on the ink and stamp twice more on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Distress the Very Vanilla piece with the Sponge Daubers as described for the clock face and spray with the Frost White Shimmer Paint.  Use the Color Spritzer Tool with an Early Espresso Marker to “spritz” both the clock face and the medallion strip.

Layer the Medallion strip onto Basic Black and trim to fit on the edges of the clock face.  Using the Eyelet Border Punch, punch the edges of another piece of Very Vanilla, run through the Crimper Tool and attach to the back of the Medallion strip.

Stamp the sentiment from Peace Within using Basic Black on a circle of Very Vanilla (cut from the Circle Die and the Big Shot).  Distress this piece using the Sponge Daubers and ink from the instructions above and mount to the back of the Medallion strip.

Assemble the card onto Very Vanilla (sponged along the edges).  Use the Modern Label Punch to punch out a piece from Basic Black and spray this with Frost White Shimmer Paint.   Cut in half, adhere to the front of the card and add the pearls to complete the card.

Stamp Sets:  Sense of Time, Medallion, Peace Within
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Newsprint DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Versamark
Accessories: Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Circle Die, Sanding Block, Embossing Buddy, Heat Gun, Basic Black EP. Early Espresso Marker, Sponge Daubers, Modern Label and Eyelet Border Punch, Crimper Tool, Color Spritzer Tool, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Pearls

Thanks again for visiting- have a blessed week and stay tuned for some upcoming news!
