TCC64 Parisian Postcard Hello

Hi Friends! 

Welcome back to The Card Concept Challenge for 2017!  Our challenge is open for two weeks and I just love this fun inspiration photo for our first challenge in January! 

I was inspired by the gold, white, black as well as the different patterns and flowers and decided to create a Mixed Media Freestyle Collage card using Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps (SNSS) Parisian Postcard ClearStamp Set along with Grunge Elements and the new Creative Worship stamp set, Rebecca Script Alpha (all available at Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps).

I also incorporated the Hand Stamped Sentiments HSSS254 Sketch Challenge as well as the final Mixed Media Card Challenge #31 “Change” with optional water into the design. 

This card reflects “change” for me since it is primarily a clean "Mixed Media Freestyle Collage" card design versus my normal "Shabby Chic" style for The Card Concept Challenge.   This year the designers at The Card Concept Challenge can choose whatever design style they prefer or even combine styles- my goal will be to try all the different styles throughout the year!

Also, I am sad to see that this will be the very last challenge at the Mixed Media Card Challenge but understand that change is necessary- I wish all the best to their fabulous Design Team and know that I will see their artwork in other challenge galleries.

Plus, I hope you will find the time to visit the other challenge sites- wonderful DT samples and galleries at both the Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge as well as the Mixed Media Card Challenge!  It always amazes me to see all of the different designs that are created in inspiration, color and sketch challenges.

To create this card:

1). Ink the SNSS Parisian Postcard ClearStamp Set Eiffel Tower image with Versamark™ ink, stamp onto a piece of white cardstock, apply black embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

2). Once the embossing has cooled, fussy-cut the image and set aside.

3). Ink the floral image from the SNSS Parisian Postcard Clear Stamp Set with black soot distress ink, stamp onto white cardstock, create a mask for the image and stamp the remaining collage images from the SNSS Parisian Postcard Clear Stamp Set with antique linen distress ink.

4). Ink a few of the postage images along with the postcard image from the SNSS Parisian Postcard Clear Stamp Set with  Versamark™ ink, stamp onto the panel, apply gold embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

5). Remove the mask for the flowers and use water-based markers to watercolor the flowers (being careful around the edges since the black soot distress ink is not waterproof), dry with the heat tool.  

After the ink had dried, I used a thin black marker to redefine a few of the lines on the petals and stamped the SNSS Grunge Elements image (I used a small piece of the large splatter stamp) with black ink to add the splatter between the images.

6). Trim a piece of white cardstock, mount onto a piece of black cardstock, trim once more and mount onto the white card base.  Add the striped gold vellum cardstock (I used glue beneath the gold stripes to hide the adhesive).

7). Trim the collage panel, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and mount onto the card front.

8). Ink the letters from the SNSS Rebecca Script Alpha Clear Stamps to spell “Hello” with black soot distress ink and stamp onto white cardstock.  

Create the banner by hand cutting the flag end before mounting onto black cardstock and mirror cutting the banner.

9). Add the hello banner directly to the card front and mount the SNSS Parisian Postcard embossed Eiffel Tower image with dimensional foam.

10). Add a few black shimmery sequins to finish off the card.

SC626 Faith In His Timing

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful New Year’s week so far!  It’s time for the first Splitcoaststampers’ sketch of 2017 and I love the versatility of Cathy's SC626 sketch ! 

I decided to create a fairly simple mixed media card using the brand new ODBD January 2017 release Bible Journaling Stamp, His Timing along with a few of the previously released ODBD PiercedCircles Dies and Pierced Rectangles Dies.

The sentiment "Faith in God includes Faith in His Timing" can apply to so many verses that rely on waiting for God to answer prayer and also the wonderful Scripture in Ecclesiastes 3:2-8. 

I absolutely love the artwork on the ODBD His Timing image and that in addition to Bible Art Journaling, this stamp could be used for home decor as well as cards, scrapbooking and more!  

I am also going to link this card to an older Splitcoaststampers’ Free For All F4A342 “It’s AboutTime” Challenge (I love that the SCS challenges do not have “end” dates)- I have been trying to go back and "catch up" on a few that I missed last year :-).

If you have not had a chance to visit us at the SCS Challenge sites or the ODBDBlog yet, I hope you will find time to do so- fabulous inspiration from my DT Sisters at the SCS Sketch Gallery, the SCS Free For All Gallery as well as my DT Sister “Breadsticks” at ODBD!

To create this card:

1). Ink the ODBD His Timing Bible Journaling stamp image with archival black ink and stamp onto white cardstock. Heat set with a heat tool.

2). Color the image distress inks- I used antique linen, vintage photo and tea dye, blending the colors with a water brush.  Continue adding color until you are satisfied with the results, lightly set with a heat tool.

3). Using your finger, apply microglaze over the entire image (or you could stamp the image again and create a mask).  I used a microglaze to protect the image from the background stamping, rubbing into the paper ....one thing I did find that cat fur tends to stick- lol!

4). Ink the ODBD His Timing image with tea dye distress ink and stamp over the background to fill in the paper, trim the panel.

5). Die cut and emboss a piece of espresso cardstock using the ODBD Pierced Rectangles Dies, mount the stamped panel to the die cut.

6). On a separate piece of white cardstock, stamp three of the ODBD His Timing images with archival black ink (I only stamped the top part of the image for the clock). 

7). To create the little clock images-a). Die cut and emboss the clocks using the ODBD Pierced Circle Dies and use distress inks with the water brush to color the individual clocks.  b).Die cut and emboss three circles from ODBD Ephemera Essentials Collection 6x6 Paper with the ODBD Circles Dies. c). Die cut and emboss three circles with the ODBD Pierced Circle Dies from espresso cardstock, layer the circle die cuts together with the stamped clock images.

8). Die cut and emboss a piece of white cardstock with the largest die in the ODBD Pierced Rectangles Dies, mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock.

9). Add a 3/8” piece of light suede taffeta ribbon, wrapping the ends behind the panel and mount each of the clock images per the sketch with dimensional foam.

10). Adhere the entire panel onto a white card front and add a few pearls to the center of the clock images to finish off the card.

This card was designed for the brand new Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light ODBDSLC282 Color Challenge!

I paired the ODBD January 2017 Release stamp set, Seeds of Today and ODBD Plum Pizzazz Collection 6x6 Paper Pad with the previously released ODBD Lavish Layers Dies for this fun birthday card.

To create this card:

1). Ink the new ODBD Seeds of Today floral image with archival black ink and stamp onto white cardstock.

 2). Color the image with colored pencils and use an extra fine white paint pen to add white highlights.

3). Die cut and emboss a piece of white cardstock with the ODBD Lavish Layers Dies.

4). Trim the colored floral panel and mount onto the die cut/embossed frame created in step 3 using dimensional foam.

5). Trim the plaid pattern paper from the ODBD Plum Pizzazz Collection 6x6 Paper Pad and mount onto the purple cardstock base.

6). Adhere the floral image panel directly to the card front.

7). Ink the sentiment from the ODBD Seeds of Today stamp set with archival black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, die cut and emboss with the ODBD Lavish Layers Dies.

8). Mount the sentiment to the card front (using dimensional foam on the far right side) and add a few rhinestones to finish off the card.

I just love all the new ODBD January 2017 Release dies and stamp sets plus the gorgeous paper collections (since the color purple has always been one of my favorites :-))!

SUO 165 New Stuff, New Year- Beautiful You

Hi Friends!   

Happy New Year!  It’s time for the SUO165 “New Year, New Stuff” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges!  

For my quick CAS card, I decided to use the brand new Occasions Mini Stamp Set, Beautiful You along with the Timeless Textures Stamp Set (from the Idea Book and Catalog).

I am also linking this card to the Create with Connie and Mary CCMC438 Color Challenge along with the Simon Says Monday “Start Afresh” Challenge and the Splitcoaststampers CAS410 “Show Me Your New” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the SU-Only Challenge site to check out the rest of the Design Team projects or the other challenge sites, I hope you will do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

This was an extremely easy card to create:

1). Ink the Beautiful You image with Stampin’ Archival Basic Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

2). Using Stampin’ Write Markers- Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party and Smoky Slate with an AquaPainter™, add color to the image.  FYI- I use a silicone mat, scribble the ink onto the mat and pick it up with the AquaPainter™.  Just be careful not to “work” the area too much since the Whisper White cardstock will start to “pill”.

3). Add additional color with the markers directly to the images and use the AquaPainter™ to soften the edges.

4). Ink one of the scribbly wash images from Beautiful You to add additional Pool Party to the area below the dancing image and area for the sentiment.

5). Ink the Beautiful You sentiment with Stampin’ Archival Basic Black Ink and stamp.

6). Add a bit of splatter with the small splatter stamp from Timeless Textures (I inked the stamp with the Pool Party and Smoky Slate SU! markers).

7). Trim the panel, mount onto Flirty Flamingo cardstock, trim again and mount onto Pool Party cardstock before trimming once more and mounting onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

8). Add shimmer to her dress and hat with Clear Wink of Stella® to finish off the card.

A Simple Thanks

Hi Friends! 

I hope all of you are having a great New Year’s week so far!  I had a chance to play around in my craft room last night and created a quick Clean and Simple (CAS) card using the new ODBD Seeds of Today stamp set along with the new ODBD Thanks Die  (both from the January 2017 Our Daily Bread Designs Release ).

I love participating with online challenges and decided to incorporate the CAS(E) This Sketch #202 Sketch Challenge (I flipped the sketch) as well as the Splitcoaststampers' Clean and Simple "CAS410 Show Me Your New” Challenge. 

If you have not had a chance to visit the ODBD Blog yet or the other challenge sites yet, I would encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all of my DT Sister “Breadsticks” as well as the CTS and SCS CAS challenge galleries! 

To create this card:

1). Ink the floral image from the ODBD Seeds of Today stamp set using embossing ink, stamp onto a piece of white cardstock (re-inking and stamping along the perimeter), apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

2). Once the embossing powder has cooled, use a stencil brush to apply lavender shades of distress ink,  a sponge dauber to apply darker color around the flowers and gently wipe off the excess ink from the embossed areas with a slightly damp paper towel.

3). Die cut and emboss the panel with the ODBD Pierced Rectangles Dies and mount onto a white card base.

4). Die cut and emboss the ODBD Thanks Die from white and purple cardstock- three pieces from white and one from purple.  Layer the die cuts as following- two layers of white, one purple and white on the final layer.

5). Mount the layered ODBD Thanks Die onto the card front and add a few rhinestones.

6).  Finish off the card using a clear shimmer pen over the ODBD Thanks Die cut as  well as on the embossed flower petals in the background.

Happy New Year Friends! 

Welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs January 2017 Release!  What a great way to bring in the New Year- I just love the selection of stamps, dies and paper in the ODBD January 2017 Release!

 I will share more details on how to create each of these cards in another post later this week since I know that you will not want to miss out on the fabulous inspiration from the rest of my sister “Breadsticks” :-)  We would love to have you hop along with us- please see more details below... 

My first card features the new ODBD Seeds of Today stamp set, ODBD Whimsical Wildflowers Collection 6x6 Paper Pad along with the previously released ODBD Dies- Pierced Rectangles, Rectangles, Pierced Circles and Circles.  I added a few Rhinestones to finish off this fun and quick card :-)

My second card features the new ODBD Find Refuge Bible Journaling stamp along with the previously released ODBD Dies- Deco Border, Boho Background and Pierced Rectangles.

I love the fact that the ODBD Bible Journaling stamps can be used for making cards, home décor projects as well as Bible Journaling!  I added a bit of ribbon and rhinestones to finish off this card but even with the rhinestones, I think this could be masculine or feminine, what do you think?
