By The Seeds You Plant

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a Mixed Media card that I designed using Artistic Outpost (AO)  stamp sets Harvest, Seed Packets Background and Grunge Elements (all available at Our Daily Bread Designs) and I will be sharing this card on the Artistic Outpost Blog as well tomorrow :-)

I incorporated the IN{K}-Spire Me #276 Sketch Challenge along with the ColourQ CQC368 Challenge and the Mixed Media Card #29 Thanksgiving Card Challenge into the design (while I do not have a Thanksgiving sentiment per se, I always think of harvest time as a time of Thanksgiving and thought of the AO Seed Packets Background image when I saw this photo inspiration at the Mixed Media Card Challenge :-)).

If you have not had a chance to visit The Artistic Outpost Blog or the challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from my AO Design Team Sisters as well as from the challenge galleriesl!

To create this card:

Using the grid and splatter images from AO Grunge Elements stamp set, repeatedly stamp onto honey and olive cardstock with gathered twigs and crushed olive distress ink.

Once you are satisfied with the background, trim the panels per the sketch, distress the edges and use a sewing machine with a zig zag stitch to add the layers to a piece of chocolate cardstock (distressing the edges as well).

Stamp the grid image with gathered twigs distress ink onto a piece of chocolate cardstock, distress the edges and sew onto the panel.

Add the knotted twine (wrapping the ends around the back of the card front) before mounting onto the white card base.

De-static two pieces of white cardstock with an embossing tool, ink the AO Seed Packets Background and the sentiment from the AO Harvest stamp set with embossing ink, stamp each onto one of the prepared white cardstock panels, apply dark brown embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the powder has cooled, use a water brush with distress inks to color the AO Seed Packets Background image (I used crushed olive, peeled paint, carved pumpkin, gathered twigs and wild honey) and use a water brush with peeled paint distress ink to add a bit of color to the sentiment.

Trim the sentiment panel, distress the edges and use a stencil with crackle texture paste to apply texture before mounting onto the chocolate cardstock.

Ink the large splatter stamp from the AO Grunge Elements stamp set with gathered twigs, stamp onto the sentiment, distress the edges of the sentiment and mount onto chocolate cardstock.

Add the focal image and the sentiment to the card front with dimensional foam.

Add a bit of the crackle texture paste to the card front using the honeycomb stencil to finish off the card.

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- hugs to all of you and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Artistic Outpost- Rather Be on My Farm

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing this easy Mixed Media card with an Emboss Resist technique on the Artistic Outpost Blog and wanted to share it with all of you as well.

This card uses the Artistic Outpost (AO) stamp sets- Seed Packets Background, Harvest and Grunge Elements (all available from Our Daily Bread Designs).

I am also linking this card to the Alphabet Challenge "R for Recipe" (Sentiment, Stamp, Embossing) along with the Splitcoaststampers' Try A New Technique TLC573 "Revisiting Emboss Resist" Challenge (from 02/16/16)-  I love the fact that the SCS Challenges do not end :-)

If you have not had a chance to visit the Artistic Outpost Blog yet, I encourage you to do so- great inspiration from all of my Design Team sisters!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the AO Seed Packets Backgroundimage with embossing ink, stamp onto the prepared white cardstock, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the powder has cooled, use water base markers to color the images and wipe off the excess ink with a paper towel.

Once you are satisfied with the color, ink the large splatter stamp from the AO Grunge Elements stamp set with vintage photo distress ink, stamp over the embossed panel to add distressing and wipe off the excess.

Trim the panel, mount onto the espresso cardstock, trim again and mount onto the suede card base.

Ink the sentiment from the AO Harvest stamp set with clear embossing powder, stamp onto a scrap piece of prepared white cardstock and emboss with espresso embossing powder.

Trim the embossed sentiment to size, mount onto espresso cardstock and add to the card front with dimensional foam.

Add the polished hemp twine strands and bow to finish off the card.

What a fun card to design and I hope I have inspired you to create something this weekend!  Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- hugs to all of you!

By The Seeds You Plant

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a fun card using the Artistic Outpost stamp sets, Seed Packets Background, Harvest and Grunge Elements along with the ODBD Fun and Fancy Folds Z-Fold Card, ODBD Tag Trio Dies and ODBD Blooming Garden Collection 6x6 Paper Pad (all available at Our Daily Bread Designs).

I have also incorporated the Just Add Ink "Just Add 'G'" Challenge in to the design (G=Gardening, Green, Gloves, Grunge Elements, Glitter (hard to see a bit of glitter in the sun rays around the farmer's head).

If you have not had a chance to visit the AO Blog or the Just Add Ink site yet, I hope you will do so- fabulous inspiration from my AO DT Sisters as well as the JAI DT and Gallery!!

To create this card:

Fussy-cut the shovel/planting tools image from the sheet of ODBD Blooming Garden Collection6x6 Paper, layer onto black cardstock and fussy cut close to the edge.

Cut the pieces of the ODBD Blooming Collection 6x6 Paper using the ODBD Fun and Fancy Folds Kraft Z-Fold card as guide, distress the edges of the designer paper with a distressing tool, mount onto black cardstock before adhering each to the Z-Fold card base.

Wrap hemp twine around the space at the bottom of the center fold and add the hemp bow.

Ink the AO Seed Packets Background image as well as the sentiment and the farmer image from ODBD Harvest with ground espresso distress ink and stamp onto sand cardstock.

Watercolor the the AO Seed Packets Background image with crushed pumpkin, peeled paint and wild honey distress inks, die cut with the ODBD Tag Trio Dies (also cutting another tag from black cardstock), split the black tag in half and layer behind the AO Seed Packets Background tag.

Add an antique brad with hemp twine to the tag and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Trim the stamped AO Harvest sentiment and farmer image, mount both onto black cardstock (trimming close to the edges), sponge pumice stone distress ink over all edges (including the card base and tag) and add distressing with the large splatter stamp from AO Grunge Elements with frayed burlap distress ink.

Mount the farmer image along with the sentiment using dimensional foam to finish off the card.

Thanks again for taking the time to visit and I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Seed Packets Harvest

Hi Friends!

I hope you are having a great weekend so far!  I had a chance to stamp today and decided to create a Mixed Media card using stamp sets from the 2016 Artistic Outpost Release, Harvest and Seed Packets Background, available from Our Daily Bread Designs.

I hope you have a chance to stop by the Artistic Outpost blog to check out the different projects posted throughout the month from the rest of the AO Design Team as well as the challenge sites- fabulous inspiration from all!!

To create this card:

Emboss a piece of the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Christmas 2013 Collection 6x6 Paper with theODBD Vintage Flourish Pattern Dies, distress the edges and use a sanding block to lightly sand the embossing.

Mount onto a piece of black cardstock, trim close to the panel and mount onto the brown card base.

Stamp and emboss the AO Seed Packets Background stamp with black embossing powder on white cardstock, die cut and emboss with the ODBD Pierced Rectangles Dies (the long, narrow piece was the scrap and I re-positioned it back into the die to die cut and emboss the other side).

Color the embossed images using ink from water-based markers and a water brush (I scribble the markers on my craft mat and use the ink to watercolor). Add marker directly to the images as needed for shadows and use distress ink for the “aging” of the paper.

Mount the panels onto black cardstock, trimming close to the die cut.

Add the frayed burlap ribbon to the card front and mount the Seed Packets main panel directly to the card front.

Add the narrow strip from the AO Seed Packets panel using dimensional foam (I actually cut the strip in half and hid the cut edge behind the main focal image panel).

Die cut and emboss a piece of brown cardstock with the ODBD Pierced Square Dies and stamp the AOSeed Packets Background stamp with distress ink and stamp over the die cut.

Mount the die cut square onto black cardstock and trim close to the edges.

Stamp and emboss the AO Harvest farmer image with black embossing powder, “age” with distress inks and mount onto black cardstock (trimming close to the edge).

Add this image to the square die cut and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam to finish off the card.

I decided not to add a sentiment at this time so I can pull this card out and customize as needed :-)

Thanks again for stopping by to visit- I am so encouraged by all of you!  Hugs and have a blessed week, my friends!

Rather Be on My Farm

Hi Friends!!

I hope all of you are having a great start to the weekend so far!!

Today it is my turn to highlight a card on the Artistic Outpost blog and I created another monochromatic Mixed Media card using Seed Packets Background along with Harvest and Grunge Elements from the 2016 Spring Release at ArtisticOutpost.

I decided to incorporate the Mojo Monday #456 Sketch Challenge  into the design (love the Mojo Monday sketches!) and if you have not already visited the Artistic Outpost blog (or the Mojo Monday challenge site yet), I hope you will do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

This card is a bit lighter IRL :-)
To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of paper from the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Vintage Ephemera 6x6 Paper Collection with the retired Honeycomb Embossing Folder, trim  the panel and mount onto a piece of taupe cardstock, trim again to mount onto the dark brown card front.

Ink the Seed Packets Background with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, lightly spritz with water and stamp onto a piece of taupe cardstock.

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Tea Dye Distress Ink to “age” the paper.

Enhance the shadows with a chocolate water-based marker and use a water brush to blend the color.

Ink the splatter image from Grunge Elements with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and stamp over the panel.

Use the Big Shot™ with the ODBD Double Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the main panel and the ODBD Double Stitched Circle Dies to cut the central circle.

Mount the panel onto a piece of dark brown cardstock, trim and mount onto taupe cardstock (sponging the edges with the TH Tea Dye Distress Ink).

Add the die cut/stamped circle piece in the center with dimensional foam and mount the antique brass spiral clip with the knotted twine to the upper left hand corner of the panel.

Adhere the entire panel to the card front and add the antique brass brads to the lower right hand corner before mounting the card front onto the white card base.

De-static a scrap piece of the ODBD Vintage Ephemera Paper with an Embossing Buddy®, stamp the sentiment from Harvest using Versamark™ ink onto the prepared paper and apply white embossing powder (heat set with the Heat Tool).

Use scissors to hand-trim the banner points, adhere the knotted twine to the sentiment banner before mounting onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™;Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo and Tea Dye Distress Ink; Chocolate Chip Marker

Paper/Cardstock: Early Espresso, Tip Top Taupe; ODBD Vintage Ephemera 6x6 Paper Collection

By The Seeds You Plant

Hi Friends!!

I hope all of you are having a great weekend so far!!  Today it is my turn to highlight a card on the Artistic Outpost blog and I wanted to share this Mixed Media card using Seed Packets Background along with Harvest and Grunge Elements from the 2016 Spring Release at Artistic Outpost.

I love playing along with online challenges and decided to incorporate the Mojo Monday #455 Sketch Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers’ WT591 “Celebrate Chocolate” Challenge into the design :-)

If you have not already visited the Artistic Outpost blog, or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- fabulous inspiration from my Design Team sisters at the Artistic Outpost as well as the Mojo Monday and Splitcoaststampers' challenge galleries!

To create a card:

Ink the Seed Packets Background with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Walnut Stain Distress Ink and stamp onto a piece of Tip Top Taupe cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Double Stitched Circle Dies from Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) to cut the circle portion from the upper left hand side of the stamped panel.

Use a Distressing Tool to distress the outside edges of the panel, sponge Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the edges as well as the stamped area to age the paper, mount onto Early Espresso cardstock and distress the edges again.

Ink the Seed Packets Background with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Ink, stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Trim the stamped Very Vanilla cardstock panel, mount onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and adhere to the Early Espresso card base.

Add the distressed Seed Packets Background focal image panel on an angle, add a piece of 3/8” Early Espresso Seam Binding Ribbon with the Very Vanilla Ribbon Slide and mount onto the card base.

Using images from Grunge Elements, ink the grid and the large splatter with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink and stamp over the panel, ink the coffee stain with Whisper White Craft Ink and stamp a few times onto the panel as well.

Ink the sentiment from Harvest with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, hand trim the banner and distress the edges with a distressing tool.

Mount the sentiment onto Early Espresso cardstock, distress the edges once more, stamp the grid image from Grunge Elements with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink and sponge additional ink along the edges to age the paper.

Mount the sentiment to the
card front with layers of dimensional foam to finish off the card.

After finishing this card and photographing it for the Artistic Outpost blog post, I decided to add additional shadows with the Vintage Watercolor Technique (using a Speedball® Elegant Writer® Black Pen with an AquaPainter™) plus adding watercolor to the vegetables with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Mowed Lawn, Ripe Persimmon and Gathered Twigs Distress Markers for the “stepped up” version #2.

Stamp Sets:  Seed Packets Background, Harvest, Grunge Elements (Artistic Outpost)

Ink/Mediums: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Whisper White Craft Ink; Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Ink; Card #2- Ranger® Tim Holtz® Gathered Twigs, Mowed Lawn, Ripe Persimmon Distress Markers; Speedball® Elegant Writer® Black Marker

Paper/Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Tip Top Taupe (Stampin’ Up!)

Accessories/Tools: Big Shot™, ODBD Double Stitched Circle Dies,  AquaPainter™, Distressing Tool, 3/8” retired Early Espresso Seam Binding Ribbon, retired Very Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware Ribbon Slide, Burlap Twine pieces

So which one do you prefer- the monochromatic version #1 or the “stepped up” version #2?  I am leaning toward version #2 but I tend to like more details....

Thanks again for stopping by- your visits and comments are such an encouragement to me!  Hugs and have a great week, my friends!
