SUO183 Sheltering Tree

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the #183 “Autumn Colors” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges!  Autumn is my favorite season here on the East Coast- the crisp air, the beautiful colors of the leaves changing and all of the fabulous pumpkin and apple dishes!

I decided to pull out one of my more neglected current stamp sets, Sheltering Tree to create a quick “Thinking of You” card.  I love the tree image as well as the sentiments, bike, swing, etc. that you can add to your scene- not sure why I do not use this one more often...will have to remember to pull this set out more:-)

If you have not had a chance to stop by the SU-Only Challenge site to check out the rest of the Design Team projects or the Word Art Wednesday site yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the Sheltering Tree trunk image with Early Espresso Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

2). Ink the leaf image from Sheltering Tree with Crushed Curry Classic Ink, use a Sponge Dauber to daub Pumpkin Pie,  Garden Green, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and stamp onto the panel.  Repeat the process and re-stamp to fill out more leaves.

3). Ink the swing image with Soft Suede Classic Ink, position and stamp onto the panel.

4). Ink the large solid image with Crushed Curry Classic Ink, daub Pumpkin Pie and Garden Green onto the image and stamp onto the panel for the grassy knoll.  Repeat to create a larger area.

5). Trim the panel, mount onto Early Espresso cardstock, trim and mount onto Soft Suede cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, trim and mount onto the Early Espresso card front.  Adhere the entire panel onto an Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

6). Stamp the sentiment from Sheltering Tree with Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock, trim and create the fishtail banner by hand,  mount onto Early Espresso cardstock, trim and adhere the entire sentiment onto the card front with dimensional foam.

7). Apply Clear Wink of Stella™ to add shimmer to the leaves to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Sheltering Tree

Ink/Mediums: Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede; Clear Wink of Stella™
Paper: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie. Extra Thick Whisper White

Sheltering Tree- Thinking of You :-)

Hi Again Stampers!!

This Clean and Simple (CAS) card was created using the Splitcoaststampers’ SC551 Sketch Challenge (see gallery here) and Free For All F4A263 “Sheltering Friends” Challenge (see details here and gallery here) along with the CQC301 ColourQ Challenge, Just Us Girls #304 Autumn Challenge and Simon Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not done so, I hope you will have a chance to visit the above sites to check out the wonderful Design Team samples as well as their fantastic galleries!

This card was very simple to create- the stamp set does the work for you (I just love that! :-)):

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Apricot Appeal, More Mustard and Calypso Coral Classic Ink to the foliage of the Sheltering Tree set, stamp onto Whisper White cardstock, ink the tree trunk using Night of Navy Classic Ink and stamp onto the panel, re-ink the foliage with the same colors and stamp again over the tree trunk.

Sponge the foliage colors onto the watercolor effect strip stamp and stamp twice to create the ground area, trim the panel and mount onto Night of Navy cardstock.

Use the Simply Scored™ Scoring Tool to score the diagonal lines onto the Whisper White background panel (per the sketch) and mount onto the Night of Navy card base.

Add the focal image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals® along with the stamped sentiment layer to finish off the card.

Quick and easy for sure!!

SUO123 Sweet Treats- Sheltering Tree Flag Box :-)

Hi Stampers!

It’s time for the new SUO123 “Sweet Treats” Challenge and I decided to use the Sheltering Tree set along with the new Gift Bag Punch Board to create a patriotic star box in honor of Memorial Day.

I hope you will find the time to check out all the rest of ourDesign Team ideas and create your own “Sweet Treats” project using Stampin’ Up! Only products !!

To create this “Sweet Treat” holder:
Use the Big Shot™ with the Star Collection Framelits™ to cut two large stars from Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  Use the next size down to cut two stars from Night of Navy cardstock and the next size down for two from Whisper White cardstock.
Create a mask from scrap paper for the “star” portion of the flag and mask the Whisper White star shape.
Ink the background shape from Sheltering Tree with Cherry Cobbler ink (the one that is normally used behind the sentiments) and stamp on the star image for the stripes of the flag- you will need to re-ink as you stamp.
Once you are finished with the stripes, remove the mask for the star area of the flag, mask the stripes and ink the foliage stamp from Sheltering Tree using Night of Navy Classic Ink and stamp into the “star” area of the flag.
Repeat the above steps for the second white star.
Side view of Gift Bag center and banners :-)
Use the Gift Bag Punch Board to create the smallest size gift bag from Cherry Cobbler cardstock (the bag only needs to be 2” high so I used a 10 ½” x 2” piece of cardstock).  Note- the Gift Bag Punch Board called for a 10” piece for the smallest bag but for some reason, I did not have a flap on the last gusset to adhere so I found that a 10 ½” piece works better for the small bag).
Layer the star shapes together and adhere the small gift bag in the middle (raising the bag up so you cannot see it between the points of the star).
Stamp the Gorgeous Grunge diagonal line stamp with Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and the Sheltering Tree foliage with Night of Navy Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out with the Banner Punch.
Punch a few banners from Night of Navy cardstock and adhere the banners to a piece of Natural Linen Thread or Baker’s Twine alternating between the Night og Navy and stamped banners (Note- you will not see the material since the banners will cover it up completely- I used retired Hemp Twine since I had it on hand).
Mount the banner line to the center sides of the box (I used Tombow Adhesive for this step).
Stamp the sentiment using Night of Navy Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, trim and create the banner points with the Banner Punch.
Mount the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets:  Sheltering Tree, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy
Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy
Accessories: Big Shot™, Star Collection Framelits™, Banner Punch, Gift Bag Punch Board, retired Hemp Twine
Thanks again for stopping by – I had fun using Sheltering Tree in a different way to create this little treat box and now I just have to find some treats to fill it up!!

I hope that you will create your own Stampin’ Up! Only project and play along with our “Sweet Treats” challenge!

CAS Crazy About You- A Color, Sketch and Stencil Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!!

Here is the second Clean and Simple (CAS) card that I created using the Hand StampedSentiments HSSCC209 Color Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers’ SC536 Sketch (see details here and gallery here) and the CAS320 Stencil It! Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

Again, if you have not already done so, I hope you will find the time to visit the above challenge sites!  They have fantastic Design Team samples as well as wonderful inspiration from their galleries :-)

To create this card:

Using Calypso Coral Classic Ink, stamp the flower from Crazy About You and stamp twice onto Whisper White cardstock.

Stamp the leaf stem twice as well using Mossy Meadow Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

“Fussy-cut” the leaf stems, one of the flowers full size and the other flower without the outer petals.

Use a Sponge Dauber with Bermuda Bay Classic Ink to stencil the honeycomb portion of the Balzer Designs® Mini Punchenella Stencil onto Whisper White cardstock (avoiding the center of the card).

Use the Simply Scored™ Scoring Tool to create the scored lines down the center.

Trim the stenciled Whisper White panel and mount onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Stamp the sentiment from Sheltering Tree with Mossy Meadow Classic Ink.

Mount the leaves and large flower to the card front using Tombow™ Multi Mono Liquid Glue and add the second flower to the center of the large flower (lining up the petals) using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Adhere the Pearl to the center of the flower to finish off the card.

CAS Spring is in the Air!

Hi Stampers!!

This Clean and Simple (CAS) card was created for the Splitcoaststampers' CC520 Color and CAS314 “For the Birds” Challenges along with the Paper Players PP234 "Think Spring!" Laurie's Theme Challenge.

Again, if you have not had the chance to do so, I hope you will find the time to visit each of the above sites- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Ink the stamp image using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock (I believe this stamp is retired from Inkadinkado- I have owned it for years and do not know the official name plus I have not inked it up until now- duh! why not?! :-)).

Color the image using Stampin’ Write markers – Coastal Cabana for the eggs, Daffodil Delight for the butterfly along with Baked Brown Sugar and Crumb Cake for the nest.

Use an AquaPainter™ with Real Red Classic Ink to color the flowers and add additional contrast with the Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker.

Add additional shadows with the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write marker and add Frost White Shimmer Paint to the butterfly wings with the AquaPainter™.

Add a few highlights using the White Gel Pen to the flower centers and eggs.

Stamp the sentiment below the image and create a mask from sticky note paper for the entire image and sentiment.

Use Coastal Cabana Classic Ink to ink the Positively Chevron background stamp and lightly spritz with water.  Place the mask over the stamped image and lightly press the paper over the background stamp.

Trim the panel and mount onto the Whisper White card base to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Positively Chevron, Sheltering Tree, Bird Nest with Butterfly (non Su! Inkadinkado)

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Coastal Cabana, Real Red; Stampin’ Write Markers- Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Real Red; White Gel Pen

Paper: Whisper White

Accessories: AquaPainter™, Sticky Note Paper, Frost White Shimmer Paint
