TCC45- Christmas Blessings

Hi Friends!!

It is time for The Card Concept #45 "Let It Snow" Inspiration Challenge- I love this color combination for Christmas and I chose to use the colors as well as the snowflakes for my Mixed Media card design.

I am also going to link this card to the Fusion “Blue Christmas” Challenge and the Paper Players PP273 “Tic-Tac-Toe” Challenge (snowflake, blue, ribbon).

Just a reminder that the Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a number of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media.

I hope you can find some time to gather your supplies together and come join in on the fun- this will be our last challenge before Christmas :-)

To create this card:

Using a foam brush, apply Gesso® to a piece of designer paper (this is a great way to use up the patterns that you are not fond of) and once dry, apply a combination of Ranger® Tim Holtz® Chipped Sapphire Distress Stain along with Faber-Castell® Gelatos® (not sure of the color- I think it is Blueberry).

This process is a bit difficult to describe and basically you keep building up the background color until you are pleased with the results.

Use the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge with White Craft Ink to add a bit of splatter to the background (difficult to see in the photo).

Once the color had dried, de-static with the Embossing Buddy® and stamp the retired Festive Flurry snowflake image using Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Winter White Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Close up of the easel closed :-)
When the embossing has cooled, ink the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps (SNSS) Winter Blessings stamp using Night of Navy Classic Ink and stamp over the snowflake and background.

Trim the panel and hand cut the V-shape per the sketch.

Mount the lower panel onto a card front using Night of Navy cardstock.

Mount the upper panel onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock (trimming to a “V”), add the ½ White Tea Lace Paper Doily behind the upper panel along with the 3/8” Denim Ribbon and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Ink the sentiment from the retired Stampin’ Up! More Merry Messages using Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Winter White Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Create the easel card from Extra Thick Whisper White cardstock (I used the Splitcoaststampers Tutorial here), stamp the sentiment from the retired Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) His Gift stamp set using Night of Navy Classic Ink , add the strip of Night of Navy cardstock with dimensional foam (cut the strip with the My Favorite Things (MFT) Horizontal Stitched Strip Die, edge with the MFT Die-namics Faux Crochet Die from Whisper White cardstock along with the 3/8” Denim Ribbon and stamp snowflakes from the Winter Blessings set (SNSS)  with White Craft Ink).

Adhere the card front to the easel and finish off the card with the retired Frosted Finishes Embellishment and Rhinestones.

Stamp Sets:  Festive Flurry, More Merry Messages (retired Stampin’ Up!); Gorgeous Grunge (Stampin’ Up- current), Winter Blessings (current SNSS), His Gift (retired ODBD)

Ink: Versamark™, White Craft;  Ranger® Tim Holtz® Chipped Sapphire Distress Stain along with Faber-Castell® Gelatos® (Blueberry),

Paper: Extra Thick Whisper White, Night of Navy; retired DSP (cannot see this since covered with Gesso®).

Accessories: Gesso®, Big Shot™, MFT Stitched Horizontal Strip Dies, MFT Die-namics Faux Crochet Die, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Winter White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, 3/8” Denim Ribbon, Frosted Finishes Embellishments, Rhinestones

HYCCT1515 Celebrate the Season

Hi Again Friends!!

This card was created for the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To  HYCCT1515 Barbat52’s  “Stretch Your Stamps” Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers’ CC549 Color Challenge (with dessert of Christmas) and the SC513 Sketch Challenge.

The “Stretch Your Stamps” challenge is to use the back of your clear stamps as the actual stamp.  This was a fun challenge to think "outside" the box but I think the result is a bit on the contemporary side for me- lol!!

Again, I hope you will have a chance to visit the above galleries and possibly take some time to create a card and join in on the fun!!

The circular images are from inking the back side of the
sunflowers in the Prim Blessings set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps:-)
To create this card:

Adhere the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Prim Blessings sunflower images ( onto clear blocks with the raised portion of the stamp onto the block (so that you are inking the smooth back side of the actual stamp).

Ink the large sunflower using Lost Lagoon Classic and the smaller sunflower with Encore™ Silver Ink- stamp both and reink repeatedly onto the Whisper White cardstock panel.

Apply Clear Stampin’ Emboss Embossing Powder to the silver images and heat with the Heat Tool to set the powder.

Ink the medium and large snowflakes from the retired Festive Flurry stamp sets using Versamark™ ink, apply Silver Stampin’ Emboss® Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Stamp another medium snowflake onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, using Versamark™ ink, apply Silver Stampin’ Emboss® Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.
Front view (the reverse of the stamps appear as
circles with a bit of a rough edge- gives the images
a bit of character :-))

Cut the snowflake from the Whisper White cardstock using the Big Shot™ with the coordinating framelits™.

Ink the small snowflake with Lost Lagoon Classic Ink, stamp off and fill in some of the white areas (lightly rubbing the excess ink off the embossed areas).

Cut the background panel on an angle and mount onto Brushed Silver cardstock, add the 3/8” Lost Lagoon Stitched Satin Ribbon and mount the panel onto a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Ink the sentiment from Endless Wishes using Lost Lagoon Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, create the banners using the Hexagon Punch and mount to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the embossed snowflake using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add Rhinestones to the card front to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Festive Flurry¸ Endless Wishes (Stampin’ Up!); Prim  Blessings (SNSS)

Ink: Versamark™, Lost Lagoon, Silver Encore™

Paper: Whisper White, Lost Lagoon, Brushed Silver

Accessories: Big Shot™, Festive Flurry Framelits™, 3/8” Stitched Lost Lagoon Satin Ribbon, Rhinestones

Thanks again for visiting- hugs and I hope you have a fantastic weekend, my friends!

Black Tie Christmas- Card #2 :-)

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create one more card using last week’s DD79 Black Tie Challenge colors from the Dynamic Duos and decided to include the dessert option of Christmas again :-)

The winners have been posted for this challenge, and if you have not had a chance to visit yet, I hope you will check them out- wonderful examples of how two colors can be interpreted!!

Also, the new weekly DD80 “Triple Threat” Challenge will be starting at 12:00 noon EST today –looking forward to seeing you in the gallery :-)

To create this card:

In My Digital Studio (MDS), open a blank 8.5 x 11 custom page and insert the ornament image from Festive Flurries along with the sentiment from More Merry Messages onto Whisper White cardstock.

*** Hint **** Whenever printing images in MDS for card making, fill up your page before printing with other images that you may use in the future.

Cut the ornament out with the 1 ¾” Circle Punch and mount onto another circle cut from Basic Black cardstock (cut the black circle in half vertically).  Create the top of the ornament using a scrap piece of Smoky Slate cardstock and mount a few scraps of Basic Black on the sides- adhere this behind the circle ornament.

Use the AquaPainter™ with Platinum Shimmer Paint to cover the top of the ornament and parts of the snowflake.  Add the Basic Black cardstock strip in the center and punch out a ½” Circle to put in the center.  Add the Frosted Finishes Embellisment to the center of the small circle using Mini Glue Dots and wrap the retired Silver Cord around the top of the ornament – place a Rhinestone in the center to hold the cord in place.

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock and Silver Foil Paper.  Add a few scraps of Basic Black cardstock to the back of the embossed Smoky Slate layer, adhere the Silver Foil strip in the middle and the Whisper White border (from the Big Shot™ and the Finishing Touches Edgelits™) at the bottom.   Mount onto the DSP panel, trim to size, adhere to a Whisper White cardstock layer and again onto a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock.

Add the ornament to the center of the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and adhere the tails of the Silver Cord behind the card front.  Mount the entire panel onto the Basic Black card base.

Trim the sentiment and add banner points using the 1” Square Punch. Mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and trim to match the banner.  Mount to the card front over the Silver Cord using Stampin’ Dimensionals™ to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Festive Flurry, More Merry Messages– both MDS

Ink: Printer Ink- Black

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Silver Foil, retired Mocha Morning DSP

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Finishing Touches Edgelits™, retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Punches- 1” Square, 1 ¾” Circle; Frosted Finishes Embellishment, Rhinestones, retired Silver Cord, Platinum Shimmer Paint

Thanks again for visiting!  I hope will have a chance to visit again and check out the new DD80Dynamic Duos Challenge!

CAS Christmas Card- 10 Minute "Stepped Up" Version

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to share the “stepped up” version of the 5 Minute Clean and Simple (CAS) card from my previous post using Jaydee’s PP167 colors from The Paper Players and the Acrylic Block Technique.

This version took a few more minutes and would be a 10-15 Minute card - I was able to complete in 10 minutes but I did use a few scraps in my stash for the layers...

Again, if you have not had a chance to stop by and visit The Paper Players yet, I would urge you to do so- they generally have 50+ entries each week and a wonderful Design Team with some of my all time favorite card artists!

To create this card:

Ink the Stampin’ Up! Acrylic Block D using the Pool Party Classic Ink pad and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

Ink the Festive Flurry stamp using Midnight Muse Classic Ink and stamp over the Pool Party block.   Trim to size and mount onto a piece of Pool Party cardstock.

Add the piece of Midnight Muse cardstock to the Whisper White layer, stamp the sentiment using Midnight Muse Classic Ink and mount onto the Midnight Muse card base.

Add the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®, adhere the 3/8” Midnight Muse Stitched Satin triple ribbon bow along with the Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Festive Flurry, More Merry Messages

Ink: Midnight Muse, Pool Party

Paper: Whisper White, Midnight Muse

Accessories: Rhinestones, 3/8” Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon

I have yet to use my coordinating Festive Flurry Framelits™ and will be making an even more “stepped up” version using this color combo, so stay tuned...

Thanks again for stopping by- have a terrific Tuesday!

CAS Christmas- 2nd Attempt at a Color and Sketch :-)

Hi Again Stampers!!

I was not completely satisfied with my last post using this week’s Create with Connie and MaryCCMC272 Colors along with the CAS Colours and Sketches #46 Sketch Challenge- I know, OK I admit it, I am a perfectionist who is rarely satisfied with my creations but while I still had all of the supplies out, decided to give it one more try and am more satisfied with this CAS card :-))

This one still did not come easy- not sure but I think I may have a problem...first step is admitting, right?  It seems as though when the colors are challenging and I am trying to create a CAS card (Clean and Simple), my brain freezes up! :-)

I thought that the Masking Tape Technique may look better so used the tape with So Saffron Classic Ink onto Whisper White and stamped the smallest snowflake from Festive Flurry in Bermuda Bay, then Rich Razzleberry, punched them out and even had them mounted onto Rich Razzleberry cardstock but still did not seem right (did set these aside for possible future use)...

Then I thought possibly Vellum...tried one in Bermuda Bay and larger in Rich Razzleberry and as I just layered them to see the effect, they were not dry (duh!) and smeared ...

Then I decided to stamp the Festive Flurry snowflake with Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink onto Whisper White, trimmed and decided to cut it in half to put the sentiment in the center... did not like that look so I cut into fourths but since I did not cut into fourths from the beginning, the squares were not the same size... so I glued it back together and what now??  Should I start over again or just give up???

Decided to color with the markers and thought, oh no, can you see the seam??  What about the Woodgrain folder- couldit  hide the seams of my mistake??

So there you have it- you know all my secrets and the story of my creative process...I think I need help!!!  And if you look too close, you can see the seams!!  Oh well, I have learned from my mistakes and if I create any additionals, I will not cut them apart :-))

To create this card:

Stamp the Festive Flurry image (second from the largest snowflake) using Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink onto Whisper White and trim to size.

Mount onto So Saffron cardstock and emboss using the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and adhere to Rich Razzleberry cardstock (again, trim to size).

Using Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink stamp the sentiment from More Merry Messages onto the Bermuda Bay lbackground layer  and add the Designer Series Paper cut on a diagonal per the sketch (I used the other half from the last post- Rich Razzleberry piece from the retired International Bazaar).

Adhere this entire panel to the Rich Razzleberry card base and add the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®- add the Pearl to the center to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Festive Flurry, More Merry Messages

Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Stampin’ Write Markers-  Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry ,So Saffron

Paper: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry , So Saffron, Designer Series Paper- retired International Bazaar

Accessories: Big Shot™,  Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Pearl

This card reminds me of the Lancaster PA region and the Pennsylvania Dutch creations that you sometimes see painted on the barns…need to take another visit to that beautiful part of our country :-)

Thanks again for visiting- have a wonderful, relaxing Sunday and God Bless!

An Easy Christmas Quilt

Hi Stampers!

This evening I had a chance to stamp and decided to create a card using this week’s DD74 Dynamic Duos Colors (love this two color challenge site and their Design Team is amazing- hope you can find the time to visit) and another card design for my Christmas cards and the CCC13 Splitcoaststampers Christmas Card Challenge

 To create this card:

Using the Embossing Buddy®, de-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamp the Festive Flurry image using Versamark™ ink.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Ink the background stamp En Francais using Cajun Craze Classic Ink and stamp off before stamping over the snowflake.  Gently wipe off the ink from the image using a paper Towel.

With a Sponge Dauber apply Island Indigo Classic Ink over the entire image and again, gently wipe off the ink with a paper towel.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Circles Collection Framelits™ to cut out the embossed image and cut another circle the same size from Cajun Craze cardstock.  Cut the Cajun Craze circle in half horizontally to layer behind the embossed image and adhere to a Tea Lace Paper Doily.

Emboss a small piece of Cajun Craze Designer Series Paper (DSP) using the Big Shot™ with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and also emboss a 4 ¼” x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Lightly sand the Cajun Craze embossed DSP with the Sanding Block and adhere to a piece of Island Indigo cardstock- mount onto the Whisper White embossed panel on an angle.

Add the Festive Flurry snowflake focal image and add the 5/8” Triple Satin Ribbon bow.  Mount the entire panel onto an Island Indigo card base and add the Pearl to the center to finish off the card.

I decided to leave the sentiment off the card since I did not want to cover up the snowflake :-)

Stamp Sets: Festive Flurry, En Francais

Ink: Versamark™, Island Indigo, Cajun Craze

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Island Indigo, Cajun Craze, Designer Series Paper- Cajun Craze

Accessories:  Big Shot™,  retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder,  Circle Collection Framelits™, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool,   Sanding Block, Tea Lace Paper Doily, Pearl, Satin Ribbon from my stash

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- have a wonderful Wednesday!!

Festive Flurry- CAS Christmas

Hi Stampers!!

I am still working on my September CCC13 Christmas card designs and wanted to create another quick, easy Clean and Simple (CAS) card and the sketch at CAS(E)This Sketch Challenge #45 looked like it would be perfect :-)

There are so many talent artists on the CAS(E) This Sketch Design Team(not to mention the numerous entries and the inspiration)- hope you have a chance to stop by to visit their site!

To create this card:

Using the snowflake images from Festive Flurry, create a mask from a stick note for each image.

On Whisper White, stamp the main stamp image with Night of Navy Classic Ink, use the mask to cover the stamped image and stamp the smaller image (once you stamp off once prior to stamping onto the card front).

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock.

Add the stamped vellum sentiment and Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Festive Flurry, More Merry Messages

Ink: Night of Navy

Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Vellum

Accessories: Rhinestones

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you have a great week!!
