Matthew 22:37- Love the Lord Your God

Hi Stampers!

I had a chance to spend some time this evening and decided to create a card using the Hand Stamped Sentiments HSSCC224 Color Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers’ SC566 Sketch (I flipped the sketch upside down :-))

I hope you will have a chance to visit and check out all of the wonderful Design projects and other entries at the above sites!

To create this card:

Ink the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Scripture Collection #9 using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the My Favorite Things (MFT) Stitched Oval STAX die to cut out the sentiment and mount onto another oval cut with the Ovals Collection Framelits™ from Blackberry Bliss cardstock.

Cut the Blackberry Bliss oval cut in half, adhere the halves behind the stitched oval sentiment showing just a part of the frame.

Ink the retired Musical Score background stamp using Delightful Dijon Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Delightful Dijon cardstock.

Trim the edges of the background stamped panel, add the crochet lace and re-adhere the edges.

Add the strips of Blackberry Bliss cardstock to cover the seam.

Using the 1 ¼” Circle Punch, punch four circles to create the scallop design, place on the back side of Modern Medley Designer Series Paper (DSP) and trace along  the edge with pencil.

Cut the DSP along the traced edge and trim the sides to size.

Use the Distressing Tool to distress the paper, add Range punch four circles to create the scallop design (per the sketch), place on the back side of Modern Medley Designer Series Paper (DSP) and trace along the edge with pencil.

Hand-cut the DSP along the traced edge and trim the sides to size.

Use the Distressing Tool to distress the paper, add Ranger® Tim Holtz® Tea Dye Distress Ink to age the paper and use the Crimper Tool to crimp the panel.

Add the DSP to the front panel and mount the entire panel onto Blackberry Bliss cardstock.

Add the crochet lace to the top of the panel, adhere a piece of Delightful Dijon cardstock (stamped with the Musical Score background stamp) and add the 3/8” Stitched Blackberry Bliss Satin Ribbon bow.

Mount the entire panel onto the Delightful Dijon card base (also stamped with the Musical Score background stamp using Delightful Dijon Classic Ink).

Mount the oval verse using dimensional foam and add the Blackberry Bliss cardstock roses and leaves (roses cut from Blackberry Bliss cardstock with the Big Shot™ using MFT Royal Mini and Royal Rose Dies and the leaves from Mossy Meadow cardstock using the Martha Stewart (MS) Leaf Punch).

Add a few Pearls to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets: Musical Score (retired Stampin’ Up!), Scripture Collection #9 (ODBD)
Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, Delightful Dijon
Paper/Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Blackberry Bliss, Delightful Dijon, Mossy Meadow; Modern Medley DSP (retired)

TCC38 Mixed Media - Weathered Daisies :-)

Hi Stampers!!

It’s time for the new Card Concept #38 Inspiration Photo Challenge!  I love all of the texture from the peeling paint on the chair along with the cheerful daisies and used that as my inspiration for my Mixed Media card.

This scene reminds me of the summers that we would spend in rural New York State with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins...there were so many gorgeous older buildings with weathered wood- an artist's dream :-)

I combined our Card Concept challenge with the Splitcoaststampers’ WT536 “Get A Little Grungy” Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a number of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media.

Hope you can find some time to gather your supplies together and come join in on the fun!!

To create this card:

On a retired piece of Newsprint Designer Series Paper (DSP), apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Picket Fence Distress Stain to give the appearance of white washed paint.

Add a bit of Ranger® Tim Holtz® Weathered Wood and Shabby Shutters Distress Stain to build up layers (using a Heat Tool to dry between layers of ink).

Once you have the background the desired color, randomly apply Judikins MicroGlaze™ to the areas that you would like to “weather”.

Use a spatula or old credit card to add Studio 490® Wendi Vecchi® Crackled Texture Paste and carefully dry with the Heat Tool.

Once dried, use a paper towel to gently rub some of the crackle paste and background color away (to mimic the peeling paint).  It is a bit difficult to see in the photo but the background definitely has cracks and looks like it has peeled :-)

Once you have achieved the desired effect, use a foam brush to apply Mod Podge® to seal the surface.

Using Stāz-On® Stone Gray Ink, ink and s
Trying to show the crackle, can you see it?
tamp the Musical Score (retired background stamp) onto random areas of the background.
Use the Distressing Tool to distress the edges and mount the panel onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock (also distressed with the Distressing Tool).

Mount the entire background panel onto a 5 ½”square Whisper White card base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Daisies Flowers #2 Bigz™ Die to cut out two sets of daisies from Whisper White cardstock.

Use a foam brush to apply Gesso to the daisies and once dry, assemble the flowers and had the Daffodil Delight button centers (with a piece of DSP as the “thread”).

Create the leaves from Wild Wasabi cardstock with the Martha Stewart Leaf Punch and adhere the leaves along with the large daisy to the card front.

Cut a 1” strip from the Newsprint DSP, apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Picket Fence Distress Stain and allow to dry.

Adhere ½ of a White Tea Lace  Doily (distressed  with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper Distress Ink) to the card front on  an angle, cover the doily edge with the Newsprint DSP strip and tuck a few of the daisy petals behind the strip.

Add the remaining daisy and leaves along with Pearls in the corners.
Ink the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

Create the banner points with the Hexagon Punch and add a bit of Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper Distress Ink to “antique” the paper.

Mount the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Bloom with Hope (retired hostess), Musical Score (retired background)

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Ranger® Tim Holtz®  Distress Stains- Picket Fence, Weathered Wood, Shabby Shutters; Ranger® Tim Holtz®  Distress Ink- Old Paper

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Gray, Wild Wasabi, retired Newsprint DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Daisies Flowers #2 Bigz™ Die, Gesso®, Mod Podge®, Judikins Microglaze™, Studio 490® Wendi Vecchi® Crackled Texture Paste, Heat Tool, Distressing Tool, Hexagon Punch, MS Leaf Punch, Sponge Dauber, White Tea Lace Doily, Pearls, retired Daffodil Delight buttons

Happy 19th Birthday!! Another Alcohol Marker Marbling Experiment for Two Lovely Nieces :-)

Hi Stampers!!

This weekend we are celebrating my twin niece’s 19th birthday and I wanted to create their birthday cards using the Alcohol Marker Marbling technique (see the Splitcoaststampers tutorial here) along with the Splitcoaststampers WT497 Stencil It! Challenge using a mixed media collage design.

I must admit, I love this marker technique- it is so addicting!!

Since they are twins, I wanted to create similar cards geared towards their interests in college- one has taken a music path and the other art.

To create the background panels for both cards:

Using the medium marker from the Night of Navy Stampin’ Blendabilities™ Collection, scribble some color onto the zip lock bag as noted in the tutorial , add additional color onto the zip lock bag using the dark markers from the Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Wisteria Wonder Stampin’ Bleandabilities™ and spritz with rubbing alcohol.

Lay a piece of Glossy White cardstock over the ink and lift up, spritz the ink again with the rubbing alcohol, lay a second piece of Glossy White cardstock over the moistened ink and lift for your second print (I used the second print for one of the cards and the first print for the other).

Allow to the panel to dry and use Sponge Daubers to apply Blackberry Bliss, Island Indigo, Mossy Meadow to the Positively Chevron background stamp and sporadically press the stamp over the marbled marker background piece.

Using the Island Indigo Classic Ink along with a Sponge Dauber, stencil the hexagon areas and use a stenciling brush with Gesso to stencil the circles.

Using StazOn® Jet Black Ink, stamp off onto scrap paper and stamp the flowers from Choose Happiness onto the background panel.   To create the masks for the flowers- stamp a few flowers onto sticky note paper, “fussy-cut” around the edges (don’t forget to leave a bit of the sticky strip at the top).

Mask the flowers and stamp a few more flowers onto the panel as well as the leaf stems using StazOn® Jet Black Ink.  Apply additional Blackberry Bliss and Island Indigo Classic Ink using a Sponge Dauber to the flower petals.

Fill in the leaves and stems using a Black 199 Fiber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen and darken the details on the flower petals.

Using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink, stamp the image from Friendship’s Journey onto the panel.

Add white highlights using a Fiber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen White 101 to the flower centers to finish off the background panel.

For the musical card with the punched squares (the punched squares were a result of a "too busy" background- lol!!) :

Ink the background stamp, Musical Score using Mossy Meadow Classic Ink, lay portions of the background panel onto the stamp and randomly stamp a few areas.

Using the 1 ¼” Square Punch, punch out the entire panel.   Randomly position the punched squares and adhere to a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto the Island Indigo panel.

Add a 5/8” Satin Ribbon bow along with the sentiment (stamped onto Glossy White cardstock, trimmed and banner points created with the Hexagon Punch).

Adhere the sentiment as well as the bow to the front of the panel and add to the Island Indigo cardstock panel, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

For the second card:

Add a 5/8” Satin Ribbon bow along with the sentiment (stamped onto Glossy White cardstock, trimmed and banner points created with the Hexagon Punch).

Adhere the sentiment as well as the bow to the front of the panel and add to the Blackberry Bliss cardstock panel, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Stamp Sets:  Choose Happiness, Positively Chevron (background, Friendship’s Journey (retired) , Musical Score (retired background), Short & Sweet (retired)

Ink: Staz-On® Jet Black, Blackberry Bliss, Island Indigo, Mossy Meadow Classic Ink; Stampin’ Blendabilities™- Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Old Olive and Wisteria Wonder Collections; Fiber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen- White and Black

Paper: Glossy White, Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss, Island Indigo

Accessories: Gesso, Hexagon and Circle Stencil, Stencil Brush, Sponge Dauber, Hexagon Punch, Plastic Zip Bag, 5/8” Satin Ribbon, 1 ¼” Square Punch

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope you have a wonderful Sunday!!

CAS Love & Sympathy- Another Card for the Fusion 2 Challenge :-)

Hi again Stampers!

Here is the second card that I created for this week’s Fusion #2 Card Challenge- this card was a quick and easy to create using their fabulous inspiration photo.
Again, if you have not had the time to stop by their site yet, I would encourage you to do so—they have a very talented Design Team and numerous entries for additional inspiration!!
To create this card:
Using Masking Tape, apply the tape (sticky side down) unto the So Saffron Classic Ink pad and then onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Repeat with the tape being applied to the cardstock at a different angle.
Lightly ink the Musical Score background stamp using Basic Gray Classic Ink and apply randomly over the So Saffron inked area.
Create two masks for the flowers using sticky notes and stamp the floral images in a spray (masking so the edges will not overlap).
Add a bit of distressing with the Gorgeous Grunge splatter and line stamp (inked with Basic Gray Classic Ink) and a few shadows to the flowers using the Stampin’ Write Sahara Sand marker.
Use the So Saffron Stampin’ Write marker to add color to the flower petals and the Chalk Marker to add a few highlights to the flower center and petals.
Stamp the sentiment from Love & Sympathy using Basic Gray Classic Ink, trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Gray Cardstock.  Add to the Whisper White card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Stamp three butterflies from Papillon Potpourri using Basic Black Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out using the corresponding Elegant Butterfly Punch.  Adhere to the card front- for finishing touches, add Pearls to the bodies of the butterfly and corner of the card.
Stamp Sets: Papillon Potpourri, Petite Petals, Love & Sympathy, Gorgeous Grunge, Musical Score background
Ink: Basic Black, Basic Gray, So Saffron; Stampin’ Write Marker- So Saffron, Sahara Sand; Chalk Marker
Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Gray
Accessories: Elegant Butterfly Punch, Pearls, Masking Tape

Music is in their Soul- Tic-Tac-Toe for Two Lovely Nieces :-)

Hi Again Stampers!!

Today we celebrated my stepmother’s belated birthday and the birthday of my twin nieces who are now eighteen years old!!  Time surely flies by and they have grown into two lovely young ladies who love the Lord and have been blessed with so much talent in music and art!

Their mother is an accomplished pianist and they have had piano lessons since they were very young and both of them are extremely gifted in music- they have just started playing the violin and cello and these two instruments have been extremely easy so far for them since they have such an extensive background in music.

I have seen many cards in the galleries that were punch art of a piano and thought I would use that idea for one of the cards and a violin from an old retired set, Musical Medley  for the other…..

I checked out this week's The Paper Players PP165 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge from Ann and both cards qualify... in fact, combined, they are a "three way" Tic-Tac-Toe- Ribbon, Designer Paper and  Birthday; Ribbon, Embossing and Banners and Birthday, Pearls and Banners...love the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenges!!   I hope you can take the time to check out their site- so much inspiration!!

To create the first card:

Layer the Modern Medley cardstock onto the Basic Black card base and distress a bit by hand and using a Sponge Dauber with Crumb Cake Classic Ink.

Create the angle of the “piano” by drawing it by freehand onto Basic Black cardstock and cut out with Paper Snips.

De-static this angled piece using the Embossing Buddy® and ink the retired Musical Score background stamp using Versamark™ ink (could not located my current Music wheel- where did that go??).  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool to melt the powder.

Create the piano keys using the Word Window punch and punching out pieces of Very Vanilla and Basic Black cardstock- adhere to the bottom of the card in a keyboard layout with Two-Way Glue.

Add the sentiment banner created from My Digital Studio(MDS) using the retired stamp set, Feeling Sentimental from the 2013-2014 Sale-A-Bration (printed onto Very Vanilla cardstock and distressed with the Distressing Tool) and the banner points are created by hand or you can use the 1" Square Punch.

Add the triple 5/8” Basic BlackSatin Ribbon bow and adhere the "piano top" to the card, adding the Pearls to finish off the card.

To create the second card:

De-static a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using the Embossing Buddy® and ink the retired Musical Medley violin stamp using Versamark™ ink.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool to melt the powder.

Color the image using Stampin’ Write Markers in Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake.  Create a shadow and hand draw the “table” or “floor” area with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker (mask the rest of the image and add a bit of distressing with the Color Spritzer Tool and the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker on the shadowed area).   Ink the background stamp, En Francais with Crumb Cake Classic Ink and stamp over the image.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Ovals Collection Framelits™ to cut out the oval shape and mount onto the Basic Black frame (created with the Big Shot™ and the Window Frame Collection Framelits™).

Distress the edges of a piece of Modern
Medley Designer Series Paper and adhere to the Basic Black Card Base.   Add the focal image along with the banner sentiment (same one as in the first card above) and the triple 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow with a few Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Feeling Sentimental (MDS, retired SAB), Musical Score, Musical Medley (both retired), En Francais

Paper:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Modern Medley DSP

Ink: Versamark™, Crumb Cake, Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Basic Black

AccessoriesEmbossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Big Shot™, Ovals and Window Frame Collections Framelits™, Sponge Daubers, Punches- Word Window, 1” Square (for banner points), 5/8” Black Satin Ribbon (retired). Pearls

Thanks again for stopping by- both of my nieces seemed to be thrilled with the cards and of course, the gift cards inside helped as well!

Have a great Monday and have fun stamping!

Happy Graduation- A Horse with a Musical Background :-)

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create a card for a special young lady that is graduating this year (hopefully I will not spoil the surprise- I do not believe she checks my blog :-)).  She loves horses and music so I decided to combine the two and use the colors from this week’s CQC190 ColourQChallenge along with the SR177 Sketch from Stampin’ Royalty

Again, if you have the time, check out both sites- great inspiration from the Design Teams and other entries!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of a piece of Really Rust DSP and a piece of Baja Breeze cardstock with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Lightly sand the DSP to show the white core and layer the DSP onto the Midnight Muse cardstock layer.

Layer the embossed Baja Breeze cardstock onto Midnight Muse as well as the other two DSP layers for the sketch.

Ink the horse image from Horse Frontier and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.  Color using Watercolor Pencils and create a mask from copier paper. Ink the background stamp, Musical Score (retired) with Midnight Muse Classic Ink and stamp off a few times before masking the horse image and stamping over the horse.

Cut the horse out with a Circle Cutter or Circle Framelits™.  Lightly sponge Baja Breeze Classic Ink over the edges and background.  Mount onto a Midnight Muse cardstock circle and add the partial Tea Lace Paper Doily.

Adhere the layers, add the 5/8” Rust Satin Ribbon layers along with the sentiment and rolled flowers.

Stamp Sets: Horse Frontier, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Musical Score (retired background)

Ink: Midnight Muse, Baja Breeze, Watercolor Pencils

Paper/Cardstock:  Baja Breeze, Midnight Muse, Designer Series Paper- Comfort Café, retired Spice Cake & Really Rust Hostess Pack Level I

Accessories: Big Shot™,  Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Circle Framelits™, Punches- 1 ¼” Scallop Circle (for rolled flowers), Word Window, Modern Label; Tea Lace Paper Doily, Sponge Daubers, Sanding Block, Pearls, 5/8” Rust Satin Ribbon (from my stash)

Thanks again for stopping by- hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!!

Musical Christmas- Three in One!

Hi Stampers!

Thank goodness it is Friday!  I decided to sneak in a card at the last minute for the PP66 Musical Theme at The Paper Players (love those Paper Player “gals” :-)) and used the ColourQ CQC105 colors (another one of my favorite weekly challenges) along with the FMS5 sketch at a new favorite sketch challenge site, Freshly MadeSketches.

Since this was a musical theme challenge, I decided to pull out some of my retired sets (and give them some “love’” :-)).

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ and emboss a piece of Wisteria Wonder with the Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (only two thirds of the way down to leave a smooth area for the sentiment).

Use the Embossing Buddy® to de-static the Whisper White cardstock and with Versamark®ink, stamp the Musical Score background stamp and the main focal image (from Musical Medley).  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Basic Black Detail Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.  Once the embossing powder has cooled, color with Stampin’ Write markers in Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz and Wisteria Wonder.

Trim and mount the musical background onto Basic Black.  Punch out the focal image with the 2 ½” Circle Punch and behind the focal image, layer another circle from the same punch using Wisteria Wonder cardstock (cut the circle in half and angle so the cut edges do not show).  Layer the entire focal image onto a Basic Black circle from the 3” Originals™ Circle Die.

De-static and stamp the sentiment in the same manner as described above. Layer a piece of 5/8" Basic Black Satin Ribbon over the embossed “line” (where the smooth cardstock meets the embossing) and add all of the other layers as per the sketch.  Adhere the 5/8" Basic Black Satin bow, Antique Brad and layer all onto a Basic Black card front to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Christmas Greetings, Retired Stamp Sets- Musical Score background and Musical Medley
Ink: Versmark™, Stampin’ Write markers- Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz, Wisteria Wonder
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Wisteria Wonder

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, 3” Originals™ Circle Die, 2 ½” Circle Punch, 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Basic Black Detail Embossing Powder, Heat Tool
Thanks again for stopping by!   I hope all of you have a great weekend and find some time to relax and have fun creating!
