DD90 Black Tie Spring- A Fun Shape with a Bee :-)

Hi Stampers!

This week’s DD90 “Black Tie Week” Dynamic Duo Challengecombines Daffodil Delight with Basic Black and the dessert option is a shaped/fun fold card.  Plus, I used six punches for the SUO90 Challenge that is still on for another week (seven if you count the corner rounder in the Envelope Punch Board :-))  This also was created with the LOVEFEST2014B Lovey Dovey Challenge at Splitcoaststampers in mind :-)

I have mentioned in the past that my husband and I collect antique honey dishes and one of the criteria that we generally seek is a bee on the dish.  Whenever I see black and yellow together, I think of those honey dishes so I knew that I would have to incorporate a little bee somewhere on my card :-).

Again, I hope that you will find the time to stop by and check out the rest of the Dynamic Duos Design Team projects and create one of your own using this week’s colors - we would love to have you join us!!

To create this card:

Repeatedly stamp the elements using Basic Black Classic Ink onto two pieces of the new Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Loosely fill in the flowers using the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker and the Chalk Marker for the centers (for the tag piece only).  Stamp the bee on the tag as well, leaving room for the treatment at the top of the tag.

Use the Big Shot™ with the largest Floral Frame Collection Framelit™ and cut out the card base (fold the Whisper White cardstock in half and make sure that the fold remains within the framelit™ so it would not be cut).

Also cut out a piece of the stamped Watercolor Wonder DSP (created in the step above without the Chalk Marker centers) with the same size framelit™ and adhere to the card base.  Add a scrap piece of Basic Black cardstock along the fold of the card, trimming the edges from behind as needed.

Cut the stamped DSP into a 2” strip and create the tag shape using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  Cut another tag from Basic Black cardstock and round the corners on both using the Envelope Punch Board.  Mount the Basic Black Scallop tag behind the DSP tag (I cut mine in half so the edges would show a bit at the top and bottom).

I used scraps for the next few steps- layer a piece of embossed Basic Black cardstock over the tag and trim to fit (previously embossed with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder- hard to see in the picture), add the stamped/punched sentiment (used the Hexagon Punch for the banner), the Basic Black leaves (from the Bird Builder Punch) and Daffodil Delight rolled flowers (see my previous posts on the rolled flowers using the 1 ¼” and 1 ½” Scallop Circle Punches).  Add the string of Pearls to cover the seam of the embossed layer.

Create the paper bow from another piece of embossed Basic Black cardstock (again, this one was embossed with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder).  I used the Large Oval Punch to create the loops and cut the tails with the Hexagon Punch.  Add the bow at the top of the tag, adhere the Large Pearl in the center.

Punch an embossed piece of Whisper White cardstock using the 2 ½” Circle Punch and a 2 ½” Circle from Basic Black cardstock- cut both in half, add the Basic Black layer behind the Whisper White and adhere to the card (the tag will cover the split).

Add the completed tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  Use a Stampin’ Write Basic Black marker to color the edges of the die cut frame and lightly sponge Daffodil Delight Classic Ink to finish off the card.

Happy Valentine's Day- Six Punches and A Cool Color Combo :-)

Hi Stampers!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!   I decided to create a Valentine with non-traditional colors and loved Nance’s PP182 Color Combination at The Paper Players and used a few punches for another card for the SUO90 Punch Parade Challenge.  Plus,  this week's Shining the Light Challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs is Non-Traditional Colors- love using non-traditional colors for holidays, don't you?

Again, I hope you have had a chance to check out all of the entries and Design Team projects!  So much inspiration and alot of hard work goes into creating and maintaining the challenge sites- if you have a chance, leave a comment (what we call "some love") :-)

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the heart die cut (I used a non SU! Die this time) to cut out the opening on the card front from a piece of Midnight Muse cardstock.   Emboss with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and trim.

Emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder  and adhere behind the heart opening.  Add the paper lace edge to the bottom of the Midnight Muse embossed layer (cut with the Large Scallop Framelits™ and embossed with Lace Delicate Designs Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder- I had this one in my scraps ready to go :-))

Adhere this panel onto a piece of Gold Foil cardstock and adhere again onto a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.  Mount the entire panel onto the Midnight Muse card base.

Stamp the little banner from the stamp set, Follow Your Heart using Midnight Muse Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out using the Bitty Banner Punch. Add to the card front using Mini Glue Dots.

Emboss a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock using the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder- cut a strip to hide the seam of the paper lace edge and cover the upper edge of the banner.

Create the paper bow using the Large Oval and Hexagon Punches from the embossed Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.  Add the Midnight Muse Dahlia to the center of the bow and adhere to the front of the card.

Using the Big Shot™ with the detailed heart die to cut out a piece from the Gold Foil cardstock and add to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Create the rolled flowers using the 1 ¾” and 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Punches from Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock (punch out, cut a spiral towards the center, crimp with the retired Crimper Tool, roll up and adhere).  Use the Bird Builder Punch to punch out the leaves from Midnight Muse cardstock, adhere to the center of the heart and add the rolled flowers to finish off the card.

A Spring Color Combination- Feel Better Soon

Hi again Stampers!
Here is the second card that I created for this week’s SUO#90 Punch Parade Challenge using this week’s DD89 Subtly Yours Dynamic Duos colors.  I decided to incorporate some of my favorite elements along with the punches- embossing folders, watercolor, background stamps and ribbon.
Again, if you have not had the time to stop by the SU-Only Challenges or Dynamic Duos sites yet, we would love to have you visit and take part in our challenges.
To create this card:
Use the Big Shot™ along with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock (ink the interior of the embossing folder first with Pistachio Pudding Classic Ink). Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.
Using the AquaPainter™ with ink from the Pistachio Pudding Classic Ink pad, apply the ink in a random pattern on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  While it is still damp, lightly stamp the En Francais background stamp using Basic Black Classic Ink (putting uneven pressure to achieve a variegated look).
Cut the background along with another frame from Basic Black cardstock using the Big Shot™ with the Window Frames Collection Framelits™.  Cut the Basic Black frame in half horizontally and layer behind the background piece allowing a bit to show at the top and bottom.   Trim off the lower portion of the window frame panel and adhere the top portion of the window frame to the embossed honeycomb layer.
Cut a Tea Lace Paper Doily in half and adhere below the window frame.  Add the other portion of the window frame, along with the sentiment from Express Yourself (punched out with the XL Oval Punch and layered onto another piece punched with the same punch).
Add the 5/8” Basic Black double ribbon bow and adhere the tails of the bow behind the panel.  Mount the entire panel onto a Whisper White card base.
Stamp the flowers from Flower Shoppe using Basic Black Classic Ink and punch out with the Pansy Punch (or by hand).  Color the flowers using the AquaPainter™ and Blushing Bride Classic Ink- add a few additional shadows with the Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write marker and use the Chalk Marker to add highlights to the flower centers.
Stamp the butterflies using Basic Black Classic Ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, add a bit of Blushing Bride Classic Ink using the AquaPainter™ and count out using the Elegant Butterfly Punch.
Adhere the flowers, butterflies and Vintage Brad using Mini Glue Dots or I used a Hot Glue Gun (since I had mine ready to go from a previous project).  Add the Pearls to the center of the butterflies and along the sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Flower Shop, Papillon Potpourri, En Francais, Express Yourself

Ink: Basic Black, Blushing Bride, Pistachio Pudding; Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker;  Chalk Marker

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Pistachio Pudding

Accessories: Big Shot™, Honeycomb Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Window Frames Collection Framelits™, Punches- Elegant Butterfly, Pansy, XL Oval; Tea Lace Paper Doily, Antique Brad, Pearls, AquaPainter™, retired 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon

Thanks again for stopping by!  Hope all of you have a safe and warm Thursday!!

SUO90 Vintage Thank You- Seven Punches for Punch Parade :-)

Hi Stampers!

It’s that time again, a new SU-Only Challenge!!  The SUO90 Challenge is Punch Parade and normally I would have opted for a traditional punch art card but decided to be a bit more deceptive with my punches :-)

Can you guess that I have incorporated seven punches in this card – do you see them all? Yes, there are a total of seven different punches along with an embossing folder used for this vintage card.

To create this card:

Use the Postage Stamp Punch and punch out nine postage stamp pieces from Basic Black cardstock- adhere to a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Use the 1” Square Punch to punch out nine 1” squares from a piece of the Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper (DSP) and adhere to the postage stamp pieces created in the above step.

Distress the pieces using the AquaPainter™ to apply diluted retired Tea Stain Vintage Ink to “antique” the DSP and perimeter of the Whisper White cardstock. Once dry, emboss the entire panel using the Big Shot™ with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Stamp the tea party image using Basic Black Classic Ink and color with the Crushed Curry, Blushing Bride and Pistachio Pudding Stampin’ Write Markers.  Add a bit of distressing using the AquaPainter™ to apply diluted retired Tea Stain Vintage Ink and cut out the image using the Big Shot™ with the Ovals Collections Framelits™.

Cut another oval from Basic Black cardstock using the same size oval framelit, cut the Basic Black oval in half (horizontally) and layer behind the tea party image.

Use the new Scalloped Tag Punch to create a tag from Basic Black cardstock and add the layered oval focal image onto the bottom of the tag.

Stamp the sentiment from Wetlands using Basic Black onto Whisper White cardstock, distress with the Tea Stain Vintage Ink and Gorgeous Grunge splatter image using Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink.  Cut the banner using the Hexagon Punch and mount onto a layer of Basic Black cardstock (trimming the Basic Black to create a frame for the banner sentiment).

Mount the banner sentiment above the tea cup (covering up the original sentiment on the focal image stamp) and set aside to create the rolled flowers.
To create the rolled flowers:
The larger roses were created with the 2 3/8” Scallop Circle-punch two from Raspberry Ripple and one from Blushing Bride cardstock.  Starting on the outside, cut a wavy spiral towards the center, crimp twice with the retired Crimping Tool and start to roll up from the outside edge toward the center.  Again, hold in place using the Hot Glue Gun or Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive.  If needed, here is a basic written tutorial at Splitcoaststampers for the rolled roses.
Take the same steps as above for the smallest roses (three from Blushing Bride cardstock and one from Raspberry Ripple cardstock)- use the 1 ¾” Scallop Circle Punch to punch out the roses from the cardstock and use the same instructions above for completing the roses.  Distress the roses a bit with the AquaPainter™ to apply diluted retired Tea Stain Vintage Ink to the petals.
Use a Sponge Dauber with this ink as well to “distress/antique” the leaves as well. Use the Bird Builder Punch to punch out the leaves from Pistachio Pudding cardstock.
Add the Tea Lace Paper Doily to the card front (sponge a bit of the Tea Stain Vintage Ink onto the doily, use the retired Crimper Tool to crimp a scrap piece of Basic Black and adhere this layer over the cut edge of the doily.
Add the piece of Tea Lace Paper Doily to the top of the tag and the dots along the edge using the Chalk Marker.   Mount the focal tag image to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and use Mini Glue Dots, or I have been using my Hot Glue Gun- it has been resurrected!,  to add the leaves first, then the roses to around the edge and top of the tag.
Add the strand of pearls to the crimped Basic Black Layer to finish off the card.
So there you have it, seven punches, one card - new Scalloped Tag, 2 3/8” Scallop Circle, 1 ¾” Scallop Circle, Bird Builder, Postage Stamp, 1” Square and Hexagon.
Stamp Sets: Tea Party, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Basic Black, Baked Brown Sugar, retired Tea Stain Vintage Ink, Stampin’  Write markers- Blushing Bride, Crushed Curry, Pistachio Pudding, Chalk Marker
Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Afternoon Picnic DSP
Accessories: Big Shot™, Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Tea Lace Paper Doily, Pearls, AquaPainter™, Crimper Tool, Sponge Dauber, Punches- Scalloped Tag, 2 3/8” Scallop Circle, 1 ¾” Scallop Circle, Bird Builder, Postage Stamp, 1” Square and Hexagon
I had fun creating this vintage ”Punch Parade” card and hope that we will see your creation using SU! Punches in the gallery!   Have a great week and have fun stamping!
