CC552 Vintage Locomotive

Hi Friends!

Here is my card for this week’s Splitcoaststampers' CC552 Color Challenge- Pool Party, Pistachio Pudding and Sahara Sand (dessert option is to use your favorite embellishment) along with the  HYCCT1511 "Can I Get a Ride?" Challenge (card with any mode of transportation), Free for All F4A292 “Extra, Read All About It” Challenge (celebrate newsprint) as well as the CAS-ual Chic 004 "Tic, Tac Toe" Challenge (stitching, coloring and distressing).

I tend to use quite a few embellishments and just love this crochet lace that I found on clearance years ago...plus, I cannot seem to create a card without Pearls!  How can I choose a favorite?  Difficult to say which is my very favorite but I did use two of my favs on this card :-)

If you have not had a chance to do, I hope that you will take a moment to visit each of the galleries linked above – great designs by all!

To create this card:

Stamp the train image from Traveler using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, color using an AquaPainter™ and Classic Ink from the Pool Party and Pistachio Pudding ink pads.

Add a horizon line with the Stampin’ Write Black Marker and additional shadows on the train with the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker.  Cut the image out using the Big Shot™ with the Squares Collection Framelits™.

Use a sewing machine to stitch the panel onto a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock.  Mount onto a piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock and use the Distressing Tool to distress the edges.

Distress the edges of a piece of Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) using the Distressing Tool, stitch to the upper part of a piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock, emboss the entire panel using the Big Shot™ with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Sahara Sand Classic Ink over the Typeset DSP, add the crochet lace and strips of ¼” Pool Party Stitched Satin Ribbon.

Mount the entire card front onto the Pool Party card base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the My Favorite Things™ Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX Die to cut a banner from Pool Party cardstock, apply Sahara Sand Classic Ink using a Sponge Dauber and adhere to the front of the card.

Add the triple ¼” Pool Party Stitched Satin Ribbon bow along with the retired Sahara Sand button (using a strip of Pool Party cardstock as the “thread”).

Stamp the Banner Blast image using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out with the Banner Punch.

Punch a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock using the Banner Punch, distress with your fingernail and mount behind the stamped banner.

Add the banner to the focal image panel and mount the focal image to the front of the card using dimensional foam.

Add a few Pearls to the corner to finish off the card.

PPA216 Seashells Thinking of You

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to share one more card with you that I created this past weekend using the PPA216 Sketch at Pals Paper Arts.

Again, I hope you will find time to check out the Design Team samples as well as the rest of the gallery- it always amazes me that so many ideas can come from one sketch!

To create this card:

Ink the Hardwood background stamp with Smoky Slate Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Trim the background panel for the vertical strip in the sketch.

Ink the sand dollar stamp from By The Seashore using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto the background.  Stamp another image onto a piece of sticky paper (or scrap paper) to create a mask and stamp the starfish image.

Using the same steps as above, create a mask for the starfish, place the mask for the sand dollar and starfish over the images and stamp the remaining shell image.

Color the seashells using a Sponge Dauber with Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Ink and apply a bit of Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Ink over the woodgrain background.

Add additional details to the shells using the Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blendabilities™ marker and shadows with the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write marker.  Use the Chalk Marker to add a few highlights and apply retired Frost White Shimmer Paint with the AquaPainter™.

Mount the panel onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock, trim and mount again onto Basic Black cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  Punch the sentiment using the 2 ½” Circle Punch, cut across the top and layer onto circles from Basic Gray and Basic Black cardstock.

Adhere the sentiment to the top of the layer and add a few corners of Basic Black cardstock (from the remaining halves of the circle).

Mount a panel of Typeset Designer Series Paper (DSP) onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock, trim and mount again onto Basic Black cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™  Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Basic Gray cardstock- trim and adhere to the lower edge of the panel.

Ink the Woodgrain background stamp using Basic Gray Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.  Trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock, trim and mount onto the Basic Black card base.

Adhere the frayed 1 ¼” Burlap ribbon to the DSP panel and mount the panel onto the card front adding the retired Antique Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware to the lower corner.

Add the focal image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: By The Seashore, Woodgrain, World Map, Wetlands

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink , Crisp Cantaloupe, Smoky Slate; Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker, Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blendabilities™ marker, Chalk Marker

Vintage Butterflies for Three Challenges :-)

Hi Stampers!

I had a chance to play around in the craft room again today and created this card using the Create with Connie and Mary CCMC309 Sketch Challenge, the PP202 Paper Players “Tic Tac Toe” Challenge (two different sets of three elements in a row- Ribbon, Blue, Birthday and Blue, Designer Series Paper, Pearls) and the Stampin’ Royalty SR234 Inspiration Photo.

If you have not had a chance to do, I hope that you will take a moment to visit all of the challenge sites- so many wonderful Design Teams samples and entries!

I decided to utilize My Digital Studio (MDS) with traditional card making techniques for this “hybrid” card:

Open MDS and insert the butterfly stamp images from Flores Suaves into a blank 8.5x11 document and print out onto Whisper White cardstock.

Color the wings using the Daffodil Delight and Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Blendabilities™, darken the black areas on the wings with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker, color the body of the butterfly with the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write marker, add a few shadows with the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write marker and finally, add a few white highlights to the wings using the Chalk Marker.

Use a sticky note or scrap paper to create a mask, mask over the butterflies and stamp the script stamp from retired Notable Notions using Crumb Cake Classic Ink.  Remove the masks and add additional distressing with the splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and Crumb Cake Classic Ink.

Distress the edges using the Distressing Tool and with a Sponge Dauber, sponge additional Crumb Cake Classic Ink over the Whisper White to “antique” the paper and edges.  Adhere to scrap pieces of Basic Black cardstock, distressing the edges as well with the Distressing Tool.

Ink the retired En Francais background stamp using Crumb Cake Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock and Coastal Cabana cardstock.

Create the banner from the stamped Crushed Curry cardstock using the 1 ¼” Square Punch, distress the edges using the Distressing Tool and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, again, distressing the edges with the Distressing Tool.

Add the vertical panels of stamped, distressed Coastal Cabana cardstock (mounted onto Basic Black cardstock), along with the scrap, distressed stamped circles of Crushed Curry cardstock.

Add a distressed piece of Typeset Designer Series Paper (DSP) onto a distressed piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhere the piece of Venetian Crochet Trim to the side along with a piece of retired 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon.

Mount the stamped, distressed piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock onto the Basic Black card base.  Add the banner panel to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment from the retired set, Express Yourself using Memento™ Tuxedo Black ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and create the banner points using the Hexagon Punch, distress the edges with the Distressing Tool.  Add additional distressing using the splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge, the script stamp from Notable Notions and a Sponge Dauber- all using Crumb Cake Classic Ink.

Mount the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Flores Suaves (MDS version), En Francais, Notable Notions, Gorgeous Grunge, Express Yourself (2013-2014 Hostess set)

Ink: Crumb Cake, Memento™ Tuxedo Black, Stampin’ Blendabilities- Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana; Stampin’ Write Markers- Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand; Chalk Marker

World Traveling Celebration :-)

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create another card using the new stamp, Traveler along with our new Typeset Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the Seize the Birthday "Anything Goes with No Topping" Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers WT483  “Swing in the Hammock” Challenge :-)

I hope that you will have a chance to visit both sites- so many ideas and inspiration!!

To create this card:

Ink the images from the stamp set Traveler using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

Add a few shadows using the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker and a bit of distressing with the splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and Sahara Sand Classic Ink.

Punch the suitcase, journal and camera images out using the 1 3/8” Square Punch and trim the globe using the Paper Trimmer.   Mount onto Basic Black cardstock and trim the frames around the images.
Use a Sponge Dauber to apply a bit of Sahara Sand Classic Ink over the images (to help tone the Very Vanilla cardstock).

Ink the Postively Chevron background stamp using Sahara Sand Classic Ink and lay the piece of Typeset DSP over the inked stamp.

Lightly apply pressure in a random pattern over the paper.  Ink the splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Sahara Sand and Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp repeatedly to the background to add a bit of distressing.

Use the Distressing Tool to distress the edges and use the Sponge Dauber to apply Sahara Sand Classic Ink and mount this layer onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Add the vertical panels of Very Vanilla cardstock (layered onto Basic Black cardstock and distressed with the Gorgeous Grunge splatter stamp using Sahara Sand Classic Ink).

Adhere the strands of 1 ¼” Burlap Ribbon (the burlap was pulled apart for another post here and these were a few of the leftover strands- again, love using my scraps)!

Add the mounted suitcase, camera and journal images around the perimeter of the globe image (the globe is mounted using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment from Starburst Sayings using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock.   Use the Big Shot™ with the Starburst Framelits™ to cut around the sentiment and also cut a starburst from Basic Black cardstock using the same size framelit™.

Split the Basic Black layer into two and adhere behind the sentiment allowing a bit of the frame to “peek” out at the top and bottom.
Mount the sentiment to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Adhere the entire panel onto a piece of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and mount onto the Basic Black card base to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Traveler, Gorgeous Grunge, Positively Chevron, Starburst Sayings

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink , Sahara Sand

Paper/Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar, Basic Black, Typeset DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Starburst Framelits™, 1 3/8” Square Punch, 1 ¼” Burlap Ribbon (pulled apart and only use a few strands), Distressing Tool
