TCC216 Charm is Deceptive

Hi Friends!

It’s time for our April #216 “Spring Celebrations” Challenge at The Card Concept!

I was inspired by the colors, graphic elements and the leaves on the wall for my Clean and Layered Mixed Media card.

I bought the Bird Collage 4 image from Impression Obsession several years ago and have not had a chance to ink it up in years.  I love this sweet image and was so sad to hear that I/O has gone out of business (but, you may find this stamp on the secondary market).

I decided to pair the bird image with a verse from Words of Encouragement (Stamp Simply) and a stencil from Simon Says Stamp.

I enjoy playing along with online challenges and will be linking this card to the Tic-Tac-Toe #267 Challenge (middle row across Pastels-Free-Birds or Chicks) and the Allsorts #820 Anything Goes optional Spring Flowers Challenge.

This card was so simple to create-

Heat emboss the bird image onto white cardstock, mask the bird and apply distress oxide inks with the stencil for the background.

Add the black gingham ribbon and embossed sentiment, finish off the card with shimmer paint and pearls.

FYI- I created the card first without the shimmer paint (see above and in the header), but decided to add it to the background to soften it a bit.  I diluted the frost white shimmer paint with water and used a water brush to layer the paint over the entire background and bird.  It is hard to see in the photo below but it gives a soft shimmer over the entire card.

Another fairly quick and flat card for mailing!

I hope you have stopped by The Card Concept to see how the rest of the Design Team were inspired as well as check out the other challenge gallery entries!

Three Decoys- CAS in Grays

Hi Friends!

While I had the Three Decoys stamp from Impression Obsession on my desk, this is another card that I designed pairing it with a verse sentiment from A Godly Man (Stamp Simply).

I have owned the wood mount Three Decoys stamp for years and it is still available as cling, wood mount or a digi version from Impression Obsession (see here).  This stamp was designed by Gary Robertson and I absolutely love his line art work stamps.

FYI- I am not receiving any compensation from promoting either I/O stamps or Stamp Simply- I just love both companies!

I also enjoy participating with online challenges and will be linking this card to the A Bit More Time toCraft #120 “Anything Goes” Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers Cleanand Simple CAS595 “Cloudy Days” Challenge (use only grays).

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

This card was extremely easy to create- stamp both the decoy image and sentiment with archival black ink onto white cardstock and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Watercolor the decoy image with ink from distress oxide pads along with water-based markers and watercolor pencils.  Once dry, trim the panel and mount onto black cardstock and adhere to a white card base.

To finish off the card, using a water brush, dilute a bit of pearl texture paste and watercolor the moon.

Stamp Sets: Three Decoys (Impression Obsession),  A Godly Man (Stamp Simply)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide;  Stampin’ Write Smoky Slate Marker; Stampin’ Up Black Watercolor Pencil; Faber-Castell® Texture Luxe™ Pearl

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories/Tools: AquaPainter™, Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I am planning on posting a few more cards this weekend, I hope you are able to visit again soon! Hugs and have a great weekend!

Give Thanks with Three Decoys

Hi Friends!

I am sharing another card this morning that I designed using some of my unloved stamp sets.  This card features the Three Decoys (Impression Obsession) stamp along with a verse sentiment from Scripture Medley 3 stamp set (retired Verve Stamps).

I have owned both of these stamps for years and have not inked the I/O Three Decoys in a several years (I love the artwork in this stamp, don't you?).  While I had the stamp out, I heat embossed several images so I could create a few cards :-).

I decided to use the Color My Heart Color Dare #403 “Browns + 2 Colors of Your Choice “ Challenge (I used light blue and a tiny bit of red) and incorporated the Splitcoaststampers SC236 Sketch Challenge for the layout.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

This card was easy to create- stamp both the decoy image and sentiment with archival black ink onto white cardstock and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Watercolor the decoy image with ink from distress and distress oxide pads along with water-based markers and watercolor pencils.  Once dry, trim the panel and mount onto black cardstock.

Die cut the embossed sentiment with a stitched rectangle die and mount onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge.

Emboss a piece of suede cardstock with a script embossing folder, mount onto black cardstock, trim and adhere to a white background panel, trim and mount onto a black card front before adhering to the white card base.

Mount the decoy image and sentiment onto the card front with chipboard and add a few rhinestones to the edges of the sentiment.

Using a water brush, dilute a bit of pearl texture paste and watercolor the moon.

In All Your Ways Acknowledge Him

Hi Friends!!

I hope all of you had a great weekend!   I had a chance to spend some more time in my craft room today and am sharing an easel card box that was designed for my nephew using some of my retired stash and stamps.

For the construction of the easel card/drawer box,  I followed the assembly instructions from the YouTube video from Paper Hoarder Disorder and will be using the drawer for a gift card (my nephew is working as a mechanic/service writer).

This project did take a few hours to create but it was fun!  I loved using the various dies, papers and stamps for a one of a kind card/gift.

The truck and verse images were heat embossed and the rest was mainly layering, dry embossing and assembly.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites, I hope you will take the time to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

Stamp Sets: Timeless Classic (Impression Obsession), Scripture Medley 1 & 2 (Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Up! Silver Paint Marker; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Accessories: Big Shot™, MFT Stitched Rectangle STAX A2 Set 1, La-La Land Crafts Steampunk Border Die, Embossing Buddy, Clear EP, Heat Tool, Sizzix Diamond Embossing Folder, retired SU! Silver Circles Brads

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope all of you have a great week!

Autumn Prayers

Hi Friends!!

Today I am sharing a quick card using the Impression Obsession  “Colonial House in Spring” (although I colored it with autumn colors vs spring:-)) and paired it with a pre-printed digital sentiment from Power Poppy by Marcella (plus, I had this sentiment already pre-printed and in my “stash”:-)).

I love this scene- it takes a few minutes to watercolor but overall, this card is very easy to create :-)

As I mentioned in previous posts, I am still trying to give my neglected and mostly retired, older stamp sets some “love” .  I have bought a few new stamp sets recently, but I am trying to limit my purchases since I have so many already (it will take years to ink them all :-))!

I am linking this card to the Try It On Tuesday “Hot, Hot, Hot” Challenge (I used “hot” colors- reds, oranges, yellows), the PINspirational #248 Inspiration Challenge (I was inspired by the beautiful fall colors of the reds, oranges, yellows and greens) and the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to drop by the above challenge sites yet, I hope you do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

Stamp the Colonial House in Spring image with Versafine™ Onyx Black onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  After the powder has cooled, watercolor with water-based markers.

Die cut with a stitched rectangle die, layer onto espresso and rust cardstock before mounting onto the white card base.

Add the digital sentiment along with pearls to finish off the card.  Quick and easy for sure!

Stamp Sets: Colonial House in Spring (Impression Obsession), Roses and Chamomile (digi stamp set- Power Poppy by Marcella)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green, Mossy Meadow

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso

Accessories: Big Shot™ , MFT A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1, AquaPainter™, Pearls, Word Processing Program

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by! I hope you have a blessed weekend/week and I hope to post another card later this evening!
