CAS Thanks - Three Challenges in One!

Hello Friends!!

I hope you are having a great weekend!  My hubby was not able to have his maintenance chemo this past week since he caught a cold (he has now had it for 2 weeks and this week late Wednesday eve. after Awana, I came down with the chest congestion/sore throat part of the cold).

Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry,
Mellow Moss
Unfortunately, I have stayed homebound the rest of the week and in addition to missing my Ladie's Bible Study, we decided to stay home instead of meeting with our Small Group study/fellowship- I miss seeing everyone but did not want to spread the "love" around so to speak :-)

Luckily, I can still stamp and create and had a chance to design a Clean and Simple (CAS) card last night using the Splitcoaststampers’ CC555 Color Challenge along with the CAS347 “MeWant Candy” Inspiration Photo Challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday “Thanks”Challenge.

CAS347 Photo
As Christians (without children of our own) my husband and I choose not to celebrate Halloween, so even though the photo inspiration is a very cute Frankenstein basket, I chose to use the colors from the photo as my inspiration along with this week’s color palette (and I was even able to add the “dessert” of thanks).

If you have not done so, I hope you will have a chance to visit the above sites to check out the wonderful Design Team samples as well as their fantastic galleries!

To create this easy card:

Ink the retired hostess stamp image from Ageless Adornment using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Using an AquaPainter™ with Classic Ink, color the blossom with Rich Razzleberry, the stems and leaves with Mossy Meadow and the background with Soft Suede and add additional details with the coordinating Stampin’ Write Markers.  Apply Titanium White Acrylic Paint to the flower center (or just be careful not to paint this center with Rich Razzleberry- duh! :-)).

Use the AquaPainter™ to apply Frost White Shimmer Paint to the Soft Suede background and part of the petals (you cannot see this shimmer well in the photo but it is there) and once dry, carefully fussy-cut around the image and set aside.

Ink the “thank you” only portion of the stamp from Me=Grateful with the Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker and stamp the sentiment onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Trim the panel to 4” x 5 ¼” and use the Simply Scored™ Scoring Tool to score the lines around the image.

Ink the Gorgeous Grunge large splatter stamp with Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink, stamp off on scrap paper and repeatedly stamp onto the panel.

Mount the panel onto a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock, trim and mount onto the Rich Razzleberry card base.

Add the Silver Thread to the card front and mount the focal image with dimensional foam to cover the thread.

Add a few Rhinetsones to finish off the card.

Quick, easy and so much fun!!

Stamp Sets: Ageless Adornment (retired hostess), Me=Grateful, Gorgeous Grunge

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Rich Razzleberry, Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede Classic Ink and Stampin’ Write Markers; Frost White Shimmer Paint, Titanium White Acrylic Paint

Paper: Whisper White, Mossy Meadow, Rich Razzleberry

Accessories: Aquapainter™, Simply Scored™ Scoring Tool, Rhinestones, Silver Thread

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope all of you have a fabulous and restful day!!

TCC43 Thanks For All You Do

Hi Friends!!

It is time for The Card Concept #43 "Thank Fall" Challenge- don’t you just love all of the texture and antique touches in this inspiration photo?

I felt inspired by the steel buckets along with the gold and white accents so I decided to incorporate a Gelli Arts® Printing Plate monoprint that I created using a fun embossing folder technique for my Mixed Media card.

The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a number of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media.

I hope you will check out my fellow Design Team projects as well as find some time to gather your supplies together and come join in on the fun!!

To create this card:

Apply white acylic paint with a brayer onto the Gelli® Arts Printing Plate (GA plate), spread to cover the plate, lay a piece of watercolor paper or cardstock onto the plate and lift off, lay another piece onto the plate for the ghost print.

Add a few drops of colored acrylic paint (I used a dark blue, gold and silver), spread with the brayer and then lay an embossed piece of thick cardstock (embossed with the retired Stampin’ Up! Beautifully Baroque Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder) onto the GA plate, left up (this will remove some of the paint for the print design), lay down one of your prints created in the first steps above, press into the paint and lift up, lay another print, press and lift again.

FYI- I am using very old Folk Art Deco® Acrylic Paints that I have had for years, so they are thin and dry quickly.

You can repeat the steps to build up more layers but I have found that one or two layers give me enough depth for this type of background.

Once the panel is dry, you should be able to see the outline in the paint of the embossing folder that was used as a stencil, line up the paper into the actual embossing folder and re-emboss with the Big Shot™.

Add Encore!™ Silver and Gold Metallic Ink over the raised embossed areas and set with the Heat Tool.

Cut the panel to 4 ½” x 5 ½” and use the Big Shot™ with the My Favorite Things™ (MFT) Square Grid Cover Up.

Lay the grid over a piece of Whisper White cardstock and apply adhesive behind each of the squares only, once finished with all of the squares, lift up the grid.

Trim the panel, mount onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of More Mustard cardstock,
Add a piece of white crochet lace along with the 5/8” Gold Triple Satin Ribbon Bow.

Cut one wreath from More Mustard cardstock using the Big Shot™ with the Memory Box™ Tupelo Circle Wreath Die, cut the die in half and mount onto the card front with Antique Brads.

Stamp the sentiment from the retired Stampin’ Up! Absolutely Fabulous using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, trim the sentiment and add the banner points with the Hexagon Punch.

To finish off the card, add the stamped sentiment with dimensional foam.

Stamp Sets:  Absolutely Fabulous

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Encore™ Metallic Silver and Gold; Acrylic Paint- Soft White, Midnight Blue, Gold, Silver

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Gray, retired More Mustard; Watercolor

Accessories: Gelli® Arts Printing Plate, Big Shot™, MFT Square Grid Cover Up Die, Tupelo Die (MB),  Hexagon Punch, 5/8” Gold Satin Ribbon, White Crochet Lace, Antique Brads

ODBDSLC261 You Will Find Refuge

Hello Friends!

I just love these colors and was able to various shades of the colors for this card celebrating nature with the You Will Find Refuge stamp set with the verse from Psalm 108:1 “I will sing and make music with all of my soul”.

My husband and I love to watch birds and the black capped chickadee is one of our favorite birds that are regulars at our feeders every day.  They are very inquisitive and brave for such a small bird not to mention handsome in their black, white and gray feathers- just so cute!

To create this card:

Cut a piece of the Christmas Collection 2015 6x6 Paper  using the frame from the Vintage Flourish Patterns Dies and position over a piece of Hunter Green cardstock using a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine to attach the die cut.

ODBD Stamp Sets: You Will Find RefugeHoneycomb Mini;
ODBD Dies:Vintage Flourish Pattern Dies, Vintage Labels Dies, Pennant Dies,
ODBD Paper: Christmas 2015 6x6 Paper Collection
Add the 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon strip and mount the panel onto a  piece of Soft Suede cardstock.

Stamp the chickadee image from You Will Find Refuge using Stāz-On® Jet Black onto White cardstock, color using Stampin’ Write Markers- Basic Black, Basic Gray, Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler and Sahara Sand for the shadows.

Use the Honeycomb Mini stamp with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper Distress Ink to fill in part of the background and cut the image out with the Vintage Labels Dies (also cutting two additional dies the same size- one each from Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso cardstock.

Split the Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso Vintage Labels Die cuts in half and layer behind the focal image die cut.

Add the focal image to the card front panel using dimensional foam.
Ink the verse from You Will Find Refuge using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, add a bit of the Honeycomb Mini stamped with the Old Paper Distress Ink (as above), cut out with the Pennants Dies (also cutting the same size pennant from Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso cardstock and layer the Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso Pennant Dies behind the verse sentiment.

Add the sentiment to the card front and adhere the 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon bow.

Mount the entire panel onto the Whisper White card base and finish off the card with a few Pearls.

I cannot express how thrilled I am to be designing alongside the talented ODBD Design Team and hope you will check out all of my DT sisters:

HYCCT1531C Hope at the Finish Line

Hi Again Friends!

This card was created for the final Splitcoaststampers’  “Hope You Can Cling To” HYCCT1531C Lydia’s “FinishLine” Challenge (draw a line and have something intersect the line) along with the TLC557 Dangle Art Challenge.

I decided to use my hand drawn dangle lines to intersect with each other and the “H” for Hope.   This card was created in less than twenty minutes so I am not too pleased with the dangles (but hopefully whoever receives this will like the card)  :-)

Again, I hope you will have time to visit both galleries and check out all of the inspiration from the sample makers and entrants!

To create this card:

Ink the Hope “H” image  onto Whisper White cardstock using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and use Pigma Micron™ Pens to draw the dangles.

Color the hearts and other dangle images with Stampin’ Write Markers and add the script stamp in the center with Stāz-On® Jet Black.

***FYI- I tried to add Titanium White Acrylic Paint dots to the main  line but they did not look as nice as I would have liked so I just diluted a bit- this looks better IRL but I would skip this step next time or use a different tool to obtain perfect dots :-) ***

Stamp the butterfly onto a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock using Stāz-On® Jet Black, fussy cut and color with the Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker and brush Frost White Shimmer Paint over the wings.

Trim the dangle art panel and mount onto a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Basic Black card front.

Add the butterfly to the card front and draw the antennae with a Pigma Micron™ Pen to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Strength and Hope ( retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Pigma Micron™ Pens, Stampin’ Write Markers- Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Delightful Dijon; Frost White Shimmer Paint. Titanium White Acrylic Paint

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Melon Mambo

Accessories; AquaPainter™

Thanks again for stopping by- wow, this has been a busy month for card making for me but it was for a very worthwhile cause... again, I hope all of you have a wonderful week.

Hugs and God Bless!

HYCCT1531B So Very Blessed

Hi Again Friends!

This Clean and Simple (CAS) card was created for the Splitcoaststampers’ “Hope You Can Cling To” HYCCT1531B Dina’s “Orange You Glad...?”Challenge to use her inspiration board with shades of orange for your card and I am also linking this card to the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge.

I decided to pull out another long ago retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set, Pretty Petals (which I am ashamed to say has never been inked before) along with a new Mama Elephant set (at least new to me) that I have not had a chance to ink yet as well- again, too many stamps and too little time:-)

I hope you will have time to visit both galleries and check out all of the wonderful inspiration!

To create this card:

Ink the floral images onto Whisper White cardstock using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and color with an AquaPainter™ using Tangerine Tango and Calypso Coral Classic Ink.

Add additional detail with the Stampin’ Write Markers in the same colors as above and when you are satisfied with the blossoms, fill in the background with the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker and shadows with a Black Watercolor Pencil.

Use Titanium White Acrylic Paint for the stamen accents, trim the images and mount onto Whisper White cardstock.

Stamp the script from the retired Strength and Hope stamp set using Tangerine Tango, add the Mama Elephant sentiments using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink.

Trim the panel and mount onto the Basic Black card front.

Adhere the floral images using dimensional foam to finish off the card.

HYCCT1531A Romantic Rose- Thinking of You

Hi Again Friends!

I decided to pull out a long ago retired stamp, Romantic Rose for this card (this stamp has not seen ink in years but it is a classic for sure).

This card was fairly easy to create- stamp the rose image using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Watercolor Paper and paint the color with an AquaPainter™ using Melon Mambo, Mossy Meadow and Wisteria Wonder Classic Ink.

Add additional water and keep layering color until you are satisfied with the results.

Add white accents with a fine tip brush and White Titanium Acrylic Paint.

Use the Big Shot™ with the MFT Blueprints 20 Die to cut out the image, mount onto Mossy Meadow cardstock, add the sentiment and Wisteria Wonder Seam Binding bow and mount the panel onto the card front using dimensional foam.

I hope you will have time to visit the galleries linked above and check out all of the gorgeous inspiration!

HYCCT1530TEAM Gratitude

Hi Again Friends!

This card was created for the Splitcoaststampers’  “Hope You Can Cling To” HYCCT1530TEAM  “Turning You Loose” Challenge to create a card using any Splitcoaststampers’ tutorial that you have never tried in the past.

I have always wanted to create a card with the Joseph’s Coat technique and have been hoarding (oops! I mean saving) my retired Stampin’ Up! Glossy White cardstock for just the right occasions- what better time than the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges?

I am also linking this card to the Splitcoaststampers’ Mix-Ability MIX124 “PositivelyNegatively” Challenge, Stampin’ Royalty #301 “Anything Goes” Challenge and the Simon Says Monday Throwback Challenge and I decided to use the 09/14/15 “Love This Technique” Challenge (this is my first time with the Joseph's Coat Technique and I love it!) :-)

Again, I hope you have a chance to visit all of the above galleries- wonderful inspiration from all!!

The link to the Splitcoaststampers’ Joseph’s Coat Tutorial is here and the only modification was that I decided to use Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains with a craft mat (instead of a multicolored pad with the brayer).

To create this card:

Apply Seedless Preserves, Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains onto a craft mat, lay a piece of Glossy White cardstock in to the ink, twist and swirl the paper to merge the ink.

Once the panel has dried (you can speed the process with a Heat Tool), de-static with the Embossing Buddy® , ink the retired Day of Gratitude stamp image  with Versamark™, stamp over the background panel, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Once the embossing powder has cooled, use a Brayer along with a Sponge Dauber (for the smaller areas in the main image) to apply Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink over the entire panel.

Gently wipe the ink off the embossed images, trim the panel and mount the panel onto a piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock, trim and mount onto the Basic Black card front.

Stamp the sentiment onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and cut out with the Big Shot™ and the My Favorite Things™ Stitched Horizontal Strip Dies.

Add the Copper Cord and mount the sentiment onto a piece of Tangerine Tango.

Add the looped Copper Cord to the card front and mount the sentiment using dimensional foam.

Add the Copper Cord bow to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Day of Gratitude (retired Stampin' Up!)

Ink: Versamark™, Memento™ Tuxedo Black, Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains- Seedless Preserves, Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, retired Glossy White

Accessories: Big Shot™, MFT Stitched Horizontal Strip Dies, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Craft Mat, retired Copper Cord

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!
