Rejoice! Country Christmas Angel - A Color and Sketch Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!

Here is another card created last night using a fun retired stamp set, Country Christmas.

Again, I hope you will take the time (if you have not done so already) to visit the challenge sites to check out all of the Design Team entries as well as the galleries- tremendous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Ink the angel and sentiment images using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto a  piece of Whisper White cardstock (also stamp the angel image onto a scrap piece of paper to use for the mask).

Color the images using Stampin’ Write Markers- So Saffron for the hair, Hello Honey for the stars and part of the checkerboard area on the dress, Smoky Slate (in place of Going Gray) for the wings and blocks on the checkerboard area, Blackberry Bliss for the remaining blocks on the dress and Sahara Sand for a few shadows.

Add a few highlights to the star centers and swirls using the Stampin’ Dazzle Gold Marker.

Mask the angel and stamp the Gorgeous Grunge splatter stamp using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink (stamping off before stamping onto the image).

Trim the angel panel and mount onto a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock.

Carefully cut out the sentiment and mount onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock, trim around the edge to create the layer.

Adhere a strip of Blackberry Bliss cardstock to the lower edge of a piece of All is Calm Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Add a piece of Whisper White cardstock to the bottom, trim and mount the entire panel onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock, trim and mount onto the Smoky Slate card base.

Add the Country Angel panel to the center and mount the sentiment to the top right corner using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Use the Big Shot™ to cut out the star embossed dies from Hello Honey and Smoky Slate cardstock (I cannot recall the manufacturer’s name but they are very thin and sharp and it is a bit difficult to see the detailed embossing in the picture).   Mount the stars onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add a few Rhinestones to the star centers to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Country Angel (retired), Gorgeous Grunge

Ink:  Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Blackberry Bliss,  Stampin’ Write Markers- Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, So Saffron, Sahara Sand, Smoky Slate; Stampin’ Dazzle Gold Marker

Paper: Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Smoky Slate, All is Calm DSP

Thinking Of You- Fun Leaves with a Sketch and Color Challenge :-)

Hi Again Stampers!

Here is another card that I created last night using some of my retired stamps along with Gorgeous Grunge for the Pals Paper Arts PPA219 Color Challenge as well as the Friday Mashup! FM177 Special Guest Challenge.

Again, if you have not had a chance to check out both sites yet, I would encourage you to do so- great inspiration from all (including Heidi’s 7 year old daughter at The Friday Mashup! created the sketch- love it so I just had to "Mash It Up" this week :-))!!

To create this card:

Using the Embossing Buddy®, de-static a piece of Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Whisper White cardstock.

Ink the Magnificent Maple leaf using Versamark™ ink and stamp onto the Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Always Artichoke cardstock.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Ink the Off the Grid stamp along with the sentiment using Versamark™ ink and stamp onto the Whisper White cardstock.   Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Stamp the Gorgeous Grunge images using Classic Ink- Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry.  Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Always Artichoke card base.

Carefully “fussy cut” each leaf out around the embossed image- mount onto the card front to finish off the card.

Another quick and simple project!

Merry Christmas- Gold and White

Hi Stampers!

I apologize for my delay in posting the additional pages for the Bible Memory Verse Album- this week has just gotten completely away from me :-)    I will be posting the remaining pages over the next few days- promise!

In the meantime, I have been organizing (or trying to) my craft storage area and decided to create a few cards using some retired stamp sets that were begging for some  “love”  :-)

This Clean and Simple (CAS) card was created using the FMS153 Freshly Made Sketches Challenge along with the Fab Friday 50 Challenge to use Gold and White (plus it is another one of my CCC14 Splitcoaststampers Christmas Card Challenge designs ) :-) .

I decided to heat emboss the images and used a really old embossing pad (before SU! carried Versamark™ ) and I think that it is a bit dry – see what happens when you organize- you find all sorts of things you forgot you had :-)

Again, if you have not had a chance to check out both sites yet, I would encourage you to do so- great job by all!!

To create this card:

Using the Embossing Buddy®, de-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamp the tree image as well as the sentiment using Versamark™ ink.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Trim a panel of Brushed Gold cardstock and mount onto a Whisper White card base.

Fussy-cut around the tree image and mount onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Trim the sentiment panel and adhere to a Brushed Gold cardstock layer.  Add the 5/8” Gold Satin Ribbon double bow and mount onto the card front.

Add a few Pearls to finish off the card- quick, clean and simple!!

Stamp Sets: Snow Swirled, More Merry Messages (both retired)

Ink: Versamark™ or other clear pigment ink

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Brushed Gold

Accessories:  Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool,  Pearls, 5/8” Gold Satin Ribbon

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by!  I will be posting a few more cards in addition to the rest of the Bible Verse Memory Album shortly- hope you have a chance to visit again soon!

Hope- Another Experiment with Mixed Media

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to try another mixed media card and decided to use Splitcoaststampers  MIX83 Naturally Elements MIX-Ability Challenge (Element- Fire) along with the SplitcoaststampersSC457 Sketch .

Supposedly there is no right or wrong with mixed media journaling- not sure about cardmaking, so I used the sentiment "hope" for that reason and our kitties are having dental surgery (annual cleaning) and we are hoping that all will be well :-)

This tehnique also allowed me to use a bit of my massive "stash" of embellishments, etc. so I had a great time creating this project.  If you have not tried mixed media, I hope you will give it a try as well!!

Again, I hope that you will find the time to visit the galleries and see all of the different designs and inspiration!

To create this card:

Stamp the heart image using Staz-On® Jet Black Ink onto a piece of Royal Langnickel Essentials™ Acrylic Paper and color the entire card panel including the heart using Gelatos® (I used Red Cherry, Bubble Gum, Tangerine with a little bit of Lemon).   Use a paint brush to add water and mix the colors.

Allow to the panel to dry, add highlights to the heart with a white Watercolor Pencil, mask the heart and stamp the splatter stamps from Gorgeous Grunge with Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink.  Lightly sand the background area around the heart to add additional distressing.

Cut the heart out and cut the remaining panel into strips.  Adhere the strips onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and with a foam brush, apply Mod-Podge® to the panel of strips as well as the cut—out heart image.

Once the panel is dry, stamp the floral stamp using Stone Gray Staz-On® Ink over the strips and add the 5/8” Basic Black Triple Satin Ribbon bow.

Adhere the heart shape using Stampin’ Dimensionals® as well as the die cut cat and layered sentiment (stamped onto Whisper White cardstock creating the banner points with the Hexagon Punch, distress with the Distressing Tool, Add the heart clip and key charm and mount onto Basic Black cardstock).

Use the Distressing Tool to distress the edges of a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and adhere to the Basic Black card base using a Sewing Machine.  Use a foam brush to apply Mod-Podge® to the DSP panel.

Once the background panel is dry, mount the focal image panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the Black Octagon shaped Rhinestones to the corners and sentiment.

Add a few Rhinestones to the heart shape to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Gentler Times (retired), Gorgeous Grunge

Ink: Staz-On® Jet Black and Stone Gray, Gelatos® - Red Cherry, Bubble Gum, Tangerine and Lemon

Paper: Royal Langnickel Essentials™ Acrylic, The Paper Studio Harper’s Boutique DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Cat Die, Paint Brush, White Tea Lace Doily, retired Heart clip and Key Trinket, Hexagon Punch, Sanding Block, Mod-Podge®, Foam Brush, Rhinestones, Distressing Tool, retired 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon
