Thinking of You- A Color, Sketch and Theme Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!

This card was created using the CQC282 ColourQ Challenge (I substituted Marina Mist for Brocade Blue) along with the CCMC345 Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge and the Splitcoaststampers’ WT521 “Hoop It Up” Challenge (details here and gallery here).

I hope you will have the time to check out all of the linked sites- gorgeous creations and inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Using Stāz-On© Jet Black Ink stamp the ship from Traveler, ledger and compass from The Open Sea, sentiment from Moon Lake onto Very Vanilla cardstock and the World Map onto Marina Mist and Soft Sky cardstock.

Cut the World Map images diagonally, distress the edges with the Distressing Tool and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Using a Sponge Dauber, apply Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink to edges and over the background to “antique” the paper.

Add the strip of diagonal Basic Black cardstock as per the sketch (plus this covers the seams).

Use the Big Shot™ with the Circle Collection Framelits™ to cut out the ship and ledger images plus a circle from a piece of Typeset Designer Series Paper (DSP)- also cut the same size circles from Basic Black cardstock to add as frames behind the images.

Create a moon mask from a piece of scrap paper and apply Soft Sky Classic Ink onto the ship image for the sky, mask the ship a bit and apply Marina Mist for the ocean.

Color the ship using the Marina Mist Stampin’ Write marker and add a shadow for the ship along with a few birds in the sky with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker.

Mount the image onto the split Basic Black circle frame, use a Distressing Tool to lightly distress the edges.

Do the same for the Typeset Designer Series circle as well as the ledger and compass.

Use the Marina Mist and Soft Sky Stampin’ Write markers to color the compass and use a Sponge Dauber with Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink to “antique” the paper on all of the circle elements.

Ink the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink and stamp over all images and the background.

Mount the Typeset DSP and ledger circles to the card front.  Add the ship image along with the compass using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Use the Word Window Punch to punch out the sentiment, add the banner using the Hexagon Punch, apply Baked Brown Sugar with a Sponge Dauber and mount the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add a small Rhinestone to the center of the compass and a few larger ones to the diagonal Basic Black cardstock to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Traveler, World Map, The Open Sea, Moon Lake, Gorgeous Grunge

Ink: Stāz-On© Jet Black, Marina Mist, Soft Sky, Baked Brown Sugar; Stampin’ Write Markers- Marina Mist, Soft Sky, Basic Black

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Marina Mist, Soft Sky, Basic Black; Typeset DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Circle Collections Framelits™, Distressing Tool, Sponge Daubers, Hexagon Punch , Rhinestones

Spirit of Christmas- A Color, Sketch and Embossing Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!

I had a chance to play in my craft room this evening and in honor of our newest snowstorm (just helped hubby shovel out the driveway, etc. of 10" of snow :-)), and I decided to create another Christmas card  for my 2015 stash using the Merry Monday #148 Red & Green Challenge along with the HSSSC206 Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge and SR268 Stampin’ Royalty Embossing Challenge

I am using a set from Wplus9 Design Studio that I have had for over a year and not inked yet…needed to give this one some “love”- lol!! :-)

All of the above sites have tremendous Design Teams and inspiration- hopefully you will take the time to visitl!

To create this Clean and Layered (CAL) card:

Using Mossy Meadow Classic Ink stamp the pine tree and sentiment images onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out the tree image using the Big Shot™ with the coordinating die.

Stamp the heart using Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and again, cut out using the Big Shot™ with the coordinating die.

Create the tag from Soft Suede cardstock using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and mount onto another tag (just a bit larger) from Cherry Cobbler cardstock (rounding the corners of each using the 3/8” Project Life® Corner Rounder Punch).

Trim the sentiment and mount to the lower part of the tag, add a strip of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock to hide the seam.

Mount the tree and heart to the tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Big Shot™ with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, trim and mount onto a piece of Soft Suede cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Garden Green cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Cut the horizontal banners from pieces of Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper (DSP), create the banner points using the Hexagon Punch and mount onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock (using the Hexagon Punch to “mirror” the banner points again).

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss the banners and mount onto the card front.

Add the tag to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Use the Bow Builder Punch to create the bow from Cherry Cobbler cardstock, add the bow to the tag, adhere the retired Star brad to the bow center and the Rhinestone to the center of the heart to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Pretty Patches: Tree (Wplus9 Design Studio)

Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow

TCC30 Thinking of You

Hi Stampers!!

It’s time for the new Card Concept #30 “Thinking of You” Challenge and I had a great time creating this Mixed Media card!  I also incorporated the Paper Players PP234 “Think Spring!” Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers MIX63 Spring and Easter Challenge (details and gallery).

The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a number of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media.

I love our inspiration photo but have to admit, I created four cards for this challenge before I was somewhat satisfied (that is my Type A personality for you- lol!) :-)  I was inspired by the flowers and the spring colors- I will share the other cards created throughout the rest of this week.

I hope you will have a chance to check out the rest of the Design Team projects and link your own project to our gallery to join in on the fun!

To create this card:

Using a sponge brush, apply Gesso on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, allowing it to dry (I like to use a Heat Tool to speed up the drying process).

Once the background has dried, apply various Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains – Salty Ocean, Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick to a craft mat (spritzing with water) and pulling the Gesso background through the ink.  Pick up the paper and rotate to allow the inks to drain down the panel, drying with the Heat Tool and repeating until the background is the color that you desire).

Ink the floral stamp from Poppy Stamps using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto the background.   Watercolor the image using Tim Holtz® Distress Markers- Shaded Lilac, Seedless Preserves, Mowed Lawn and Gathered Twigs and an AquaPainter™ brush. Use a Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake marker to add a few shadows.

Once the floral image has dried, apply Mod Podge® over the image to use as a mask.

Once the Mod Podge® layer has dried, ink the background stamp, Dictionary using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and using your fingers to apply pressure to the paper, stamp randomly and partially across the background panel.  Carefully wipe off the excess ink from the flowers and add a few highlights using a Faber-Castell White Pitt Pen marker.

Using the Balzar Designs® Mini Punchenella stencil, apply Studio 490® Wendy Vecchi® Crackled Texture Paste to the upper left and lower right hand corners of the panel and heat with the Heat Tool to speed up the drying process.

Tear the lower right hand corner of the paper and curl the edges with your finger.

Mount the panel onto a piece of Pretty In Pink Designer Series Paper (DSP) , trim and apply Studio 490® Wendy Vecchi® Crackled Texture Paste (using the Balzar Designs® Mini Punchenella stencil) to the lower right hand corner.  Once dry, distress the edge by hand.

Mount this panel onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Add the White Tea Lace Paper Doily to the upper right hand corner (1/4” of the doily) and create the paper bow using the Bow Builder Punch from Basic Gray cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, trim and create the banners using the Hexagon Punch.  Mount to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Adhere the Antique Brad to the center of the paper bow to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Dictionary, Peonies & Tulips (non-SU! Power Poppy©)

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Ranger® Tim Holtz® Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves and Old Paper Distress Stains; Tim Holtz® Distress Markers- Shaded Lilac, Seedless Preserves, Mowed Lawn and Gathered Twigs;  Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake Marker, Faber-Castelle® White Pitt Pen marker

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Gray, Pretty In Pink DSP

Accessories: Bow Builder Punch, Hexagon Punch (for sentiment banner points), Antique Brad, White Tea Lace Paper Doily, Craft Mat, Gesso, Balzar Designs® Mini Punchenella stencil, Gesso, Studio 490® Wendy Vecchi® Crackled Texture Paste, Mod Podge®

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- again, I hope you will find the time to visit us at The Card Concept and join in on the fun!!

Color the flower using the Blushing Bride and Rose Red Stampin’ Write markers and the leaves with the Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write marker. Carefully cut out (“fussy-cut”) the flower and the leaves.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

To create this card:

Ink the stamp image using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock (I believe this stamp is retired from Inkadinkado- I have owned it for years and do not know the official name plus I have not inked it up until now- duh! why not?! :-)).

Color the image using Stampin’ Write markers – Coastal Cabana for the eggs, Daffodil Delight for the butterfly along with Baked Brown Sugar and Crumb Cake for the nest.

Use an AquaPainter™ with Real Red Classic Ink to color the flowers and add additional contrast with the Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker.

Add additional shadows with the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write marker and add Frost White Shimmer Paint to the butterfly wings with the AquaPainter™.

Add a few highlights using the White Gel Pen to the flower centers and eggs.

Stamp the sentiment below the image and create a mask from sticky note paper for the entire image and sentiment.

Use Coastal Cabana Classic Ink to ink the Positively Chevron background stamp and lightly spritz with water.  Place the mask over the stamped image and lightly press the paper over the background stamp.

Trim the panel and mount onto the Whisper White card base to finish off the card.

Thinking of You- Sunset at Moon Lake

Hi Stampers!

It has been another busy week with doctor’s visits (my hubby had his sixth chemo treatment and he seems to be responding as the doctors hoped- Praise the Lord!) and, of course, we had some more snow (I had fun shoveling :-)), so I did not get to play in my craft room until late last evening  :-)

This card was created using the SR267 Color Challenge along with the FabFri58 Sketch and the Splitcoaststampers MMTPT342 Challenge (see details for the challenge here and the gallery here).

If you have not already visited the above sites, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Ink the image from Moon Lake using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

Color the image using Stampin’ Write Markers- Pear Pizzazz, Always Artichoke, Baked Brown Sugar, Smoky Slate and Basic Black.

Using the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker, add additional grass, horizon line on the water and shadows on the rocks.

Using the 1” Circle Punch, punch out a circle from sticky note paper or scrap paper for the moon.

Place the paper with the opening over the stamped scene and use a Sponge Dauber to lightly apply Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral Classic Ink onto the moon area.

Remove the moon mask and apply the circle mask over the sponged moon.

Using Sponge Daubers, apply Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral Classic Ink over the sky area and water (being careful around the tree image so you do not smear the marker areas) and apply a bit of Always Artichoke Classic Ink to fill in the grassy area as well.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Circle Collection Framelits™ to cut out the image along with another frame from Always Artichoke cardstock.   Add a few birds to the scene using the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker.

Cut the Always Artichoke frame in half, adhere behind the focal image and distress with the Distressing Tool.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Pear Pizzazz Designer Series Paper (DSP) using the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, trim and mount onto a piece of Always Artichoke cardstock.

Distress the edges of the Always Artichoke using the Distressing Tool and lightly sand the DSP with the Sanding Block.

Using Gorgeous Grunge along with Calypso Coral Classic Ink, add the splatter and diagonal line details to a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock.

Using Always Artichoke Classic Ink, add additional details with Gorgeous Grunge, trim the panel and distress with the Distressing Tool.

Adhere the Calypso Coral panel onto the Always Artichoke card base and mount the embossed Pear Pizzazz panel onto the card front.

Add the strips of frayed Burlap Ribbon and mount the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals ®.

Stamp the sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, punch out with the Word Window Punch and the banner end with the Hexagon Punch.

Mount the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the Antique Brad to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Moon Lake, Gorgeous Grunge
